MS ISO 15189:2022 International Workshop
(18th – 19th September 2025 @ Raia Hotel, Kota Kinabalu)
Jointly organized by the Department of Pathology and Microbiology, FPSK, UMS & Department of Pathology, HUMS.
The MS ISO 15189:2022 International Workshop, themed “Medical Laboratories – Requirements for Quality and Competence”, was successfully held from 18–19 September 2025 at Raia Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. The event brought together around 150 participants, including representatives from government hospitals and private laboratories across Malaysia, as well as international delegates from Myanmar and Vietnam.
We were truly honoured by the presence of the Director of HUMS, Associate Professor Dr. Hjh. Malehah Mohd Noh, who warmly delivered her welcoming speech to all the participants. We were also deeply privileged to have the Dean of FMHS, Datuk Dr. Mohd Yusof bin Hj. Ibrahim, deliver the officiating speech and officially commenced the workshop. The presence of the Clinical Deputy Director – Dr. Abdul Jabbar Ismail, the Head of Department – AP Dr. Nornazirah Azizan, and the Head of Administration of FMHS – Mr. Talib Abdullah Shani further graced the occasion, reflecting their support and commitment towards the success of the workshop.
The workshop featured two keynote speakers: Mdm. Fariza binti Hj. Wan Abdullah, Senior Principal Assistant Director, Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM), and Dr. Ehram Jamian, Hematopathology Specialist, Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru.
The success of this workshop was made possible through the strong support of HUMS and FMHS top management, as well as the commitment of the Head of the Department of Pathology, the Program Chair, and the dedicated collaboration of the HUMS-FMHS organizing committee.
In conclusion, the MS ISO 15189:2022 International Workshop successfully achieved its objectives. The program provided valuable benefits not only to the organizers but also to participants from both local and international backgrounds.
