Jesselton Medical Centre (JMC) was established in 2009 as a leading provider of healthcare services by delivering high quality services for patients and ensuring long term sustainability. Located at Metro Town, JMC is 4.1 km from the Kota Kinabalu city centre, and 2.3 km from Queen Elizabeth Hospital II. JMC offers high quality, affordable medical care in general and specialised areas including Cardiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics & Geriatrics. JMC is located in a self-contained 7-storey building which accommodates 28 consultant rooms, capacity of 80 patients-beds, consisting of 67 ward beds, 6 ICU beds and 7 maternity suites.

🔹Introducing Our New Visiting Specialist, Dr. Low Kuan Yean

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Low Kuan Yean, our Visiting General, Upper Gastrointestinal and Metabolic Surgeon at Jesselton Medical Centre.

Dr. Low is a board-certified surgeon currently serving at Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Sabah. He obtained his MBBS from Melaka-Manipal Medical College and later earned his Master of Surgery (MS) from University Malaya. He further enhanced his expertise through fellowship training in Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) surgery in the Netherlands, including at the renowned Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam.

With extensive experience, Dr. Low specializes in oesophagogastric, laparoscopic, bariatric, gastrointestinal, breast, thyroid, and trauma-related surgeries. He is also registered with the National Specialist Register and is an active member of the Malaysia Upper GI Society and the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society of Malaysia.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ofelia Petrus to Jesselton Medical Centre.

Dr. Ofelia brings valuable experience from her service in the Emergency and Trauma Department at a district hospital, where she managed critically ill patients and performed essential emergency procedures such as intubation, resuscitation, and acute stabilization. She is known for working effectively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality patient care.

A graduate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Dr. Ofelia is fully registered with the Malaysian Medical Council and certified in ATLS and ACLS. She is committed to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous professional growth in a dynamic healthcare environment.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Syamsul Bahri to Jesselton Medical Centre.

Dr. Syamsul previously served in the Emergency and Trauma Unit at a District Hospital, bringing with him valuable frontline experience in handling acute and critical cases. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Universiti Malaysia Sabah and completed his housemanship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

With strong involvement in emergency, trauma, and forensic services, Dr. Syamsul is also trained in BLS, ALS, TLSM, OLSS, and disaster response. Beyond clinical work, he is passionate about global health and humanitarian efforts, actively volunteering with MERCY Malaysia Sabah Chapter.

Driven by a commitment to serve and make a difference, Dr. Syamsul aspires to expand his impact through leadership, research, and community outreach both locally and globally.

Meet Our Resident Nephrologist, Dr. Goh Kheng Wee

Dr. Goh is the Resident Nephrologist and Physician at Jesselton Medical Centre. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Universiti Sains Malaysia and completed his postgraduate training with the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

Dr. Goh specialises in the diagnosis and management of kidney conditions including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerular diseases, and dialysis care.

He is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care to support better kidney health.

Our Story

Jesselton Medical Centre (JMC) was established in 2009 to be the "One Stop Tertiary Medical Centre" of international standard.

It was built with 23 consultant rooms, 72 beds of which consisted of 16 Single Rooms and 21 Double Rooms, 6 Intensive Care Beds and 7 Maternity Suites.

Being a "One Stop" medical centre, it has all the facilities. There are 3 up-to-date Operating Theatres, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Laboratory and 24 hours Emergency & Trauma Department.

JMC Radiology Department is equipped with 640 slices CT Scan, 1.5 Tesla MRI, Fluoroscopy, X-ray, Digital Mammography, Bone Densitometry and Ultrasound Scan.
