Hi all. It's been a while and again, there's an opening.

Job: Laboratory Coordinator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Keep an asset log of all lab equipment and a stock inventory for lab consumables. Identify stock shortage, make and receive orders, and deliver to respective research sites.
2. Collect / receive on monthly basis and regularly process blood samples from MKA and preparation of filter spots (as deemed necessary by Investigators).
3. Perform or organize regular scheduled maintenance for all relevant lab equipment and routine laboratory upkeep, including communicating for service/repair problem solving.
4. Perform tasks requested by collaborators, including (if deemed necessary) shipping arrangements, patient’s clinical data processing & related administrative tasks.
5. Prepare and file all relevant documentation required during audits/ internal quality checks (Hospital/Organizational/External).
6. Ensure lab safety adhered to always (according to GLP) on training and monitoring of PPE.
7. Drive Society’s vehicle for research site consumables or sample delivery, routine site visits.
8. Assist with the conduct and co-ordination of laboratory studies with collaborators and adherence to good laboratory practice.
9. Respond to blood sample’s data verifying and checking as requested by Data Manager or perform relevant data verifying or crosschecking of old data/work in request from Menzies together/assist Data Manager in ensuring blood samples data quality and accuracy.
10. Any other task deemed necessary by immediate superior/s or study investigators.

Essential criteria:
- Minimum of Diploma in any related field with minimum 2 years of working experience
- Able to use computer with basic software knowledge and data entry processing with some analysis ability
- Able to work independently without supervision, a valid driving license
- Willing to stay for extended periods in district research sites if required
- Thorough, careful and with flexibility working hours
- Diligent and responsible in carrying out the task
- Comprehensive understanding of related research
- Mature and able to communicate at all people in any levels
- Able to communicate in English is highly advantageous to the applicants’
- Good discipline and attendance punctuality is compulsory

The responsibilities are as follows:
1 Conducting Hepatitis B patient recruitment in QEH or other relevant outpatient clinics (including informed consent, clinical questionnaire, venous blood taking from patients, and data entry)
2. Collecting, preparing and processing of blood samples, including collection from the State Reference Laboratory (MKA)
3. Perform duties relating to inventory management, storage of samples, order of materials, maintenance of lab equipment and shipment of samples.
4 Perform administrative activities related to research studies when necessary, including quality assurance with the study monitor
5 Travel to hospitals in Sabah for research tasks as and when necessary.
6 Willingness to be involved in further research professional development, including undertaking Good Clinical Practice research training course
7 Any other duty assigned that may be deemed necessary by immediate superior as and when required. Proper training will be provided with supervision in conducting all task given to improve skills and knowledge in the work.

Requirement
a - MINIMUM Diploma in Nursing with valid APC or retention (NO consideration for non-APC holder);
b - HAVE undergo practical working experience in clinic / health medical center for minimum 1 year, patient’s handling, blood testing / sampling including store arrangement and handling equipment;
c - COMPLETED dos/dosses of Covid-19 vaccine (vaccine’s certificate MUST submitted with the application);
d - Willing to work in Kota Kinabalu and sometimes needed to travel throughout Sabah. MUST have a valid driving license;
e - Team player and willing to learn from other colleague members as well as following instruction from immediate superior;

Jawatan: Research Nurse / Research Asst
Lokasi: Hospital Daerah Ranau
Status Jawatan: Kontrak Tahunan

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Identify patients at Ranau hospital who may be eligible for enrolment in the research studies by liaising with health care staff at the hospital.
2. Undertake procedures such as: obtaining informed consent, completing clinical questionnaires, taking measurements of height and weight etc.
3. Participate actively in day-to-day laboratory management, including maintenance of inventory, equipment, freezer logs and liquid nitrogen supply.
4. Process patient peripheral blood samples, including separation, cryopreservation and storage of plasma and mononuclear cells.
5. Perform all measures and document findings with accuracy and timeliness to ensure data quality, in keeping with Good Clinical / Laboratory Practice guidelines.
6. For any clinical trials, co-ordinate the administration of the study medication to participants according to randomization protocol (double-blinded).
7. Work closely with other team members, and external staff members / collaborators.
8. Assist as necessary in logistical aspects of the project.
9. Maintain appropriate supplies of study consumables at Ranau hospital.
10. Undertake training according to the needs of the project.
11. Ensure confidentiality of all participant data.
12. Observe the ethical guidelines and practices required by authorities. Strictly observe all safety and other workplace guidelines and procedures.
13. Perform other duties that may be reasonably required by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegate.
Essential criteria:
- Graduate in Nursing with some working experience in clinic or health centre (having valid APC),
- Able to use computer with basic software knowledge and data entry processing with some analysis ability,
- Laboratory experience and / or a willingness to be trained in laboratory tasks,
- Able to work independently without supervision
- Thorough, careful and with flexibility working hours
- Comprehensive understanding of related research
- Mature and able to communicate at all people in any levels
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of personal information.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.

Desired criteria
- Knowledge and experience of managing patients with malaria, tuberculosis, dengue or sepsis.
- Ability to use computer databases such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
- Knowledge or experience in clinical trials.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Good knowledge of English is highly advantageous to the applicants’
- Attendance punctuality is compulsory and eager to complete every task given.
