Fixing up a patient who is preparing to run a 10k in December. She developed tibial stress syndrome (TSS) on the left leg during her training block.
After some trigger point release, we not only worked on strengthening her calf muscles but on her intrinsic foot muscles as well. This means focusing on her big toe function and strength. Exercises to strengthen the tibialis posterior were also included to build stronger foot arches during her run.
We rounded up the session by applying kinesio-tape with the aim of lifting the foot’s arch and reducing the load on her tibia.
Just another day in the office.
