Satu perbincangan yang sering timbul dalam pendidikan awal kanak-kanak ialah perbezaan antara seni proses dan seni hasil, dan ia lebih penting daripada yang disangka.
Dalam pendidikan awal kanak-kanak, seni bukan tentang gambar akhir yang dipamerkan di dinding. Ia tentang apa yang berlaku semasa kanak-kanak sedang berkarya.

Apabila kita memberi tumpuan kepada seni proses, kanak-kanak meneroka bahan, membuat pilihan, menyelesaikan masalah, dan mengekspresikan idea mengikut cara mereka sendiri. Tiada hasil yang betul atau salah.

Seni hasil p**a biasanya mempunyai contoh yang ditetapkan dan jangkaan hasil yang sama. Setiap projek kelihatan serupa. Walaupun ia nampak kemas dan cantik seperti di Pinterest, ia mengehadkan kreativiti dan kebebasan kanak-kanak.
Saya sering mengingatkan para pendidik dan keluarga tentang kebenaran ini:
“Dalam pendidikan awal kanak-kanak, seni adalah tentang pengalaman, bukan hasil akhir.”

Apabila kita menghargai proses, kita menyokong keyakinan diri, kreativiti, dan pembelajaran yang sebenar. Meja yang bersepah, warna yang bercampur, hasil yang tidak dijangka — di situlah berlakunya perkembangan dan pembelajaran.

One conversation that comes up often in early childhood is process art vs product art and it matters more than people think.
In early childhood, art is not about the final picture on the wall. It is about what happens while the child is creating.

When we focus on process art, children are exploring materials, making choices, problem-solving, and expressing ideas in their own way. There is no right or wrong outcome.

Product art, on the other hand, usually has a set example and an expected result. Everyone’s project looks the same. While it can look neat and Pinterest-worthy, it limits creativity and independence.

I often remind educators and families of this truth: “In early childhood, art is about the experience, not the end product.”

When we value the process, we are supporting confidence, creativity, and real learning. The messy table, the mixed colors, the unexpected results. That is where growth happens.
