🩺✨ PPUM LAKAR SEJARAH, NYAWA KECIL DISELAMATKAN, HARAPAN BESAR DIPULIHKAN

PPUM berjaya melaksanakan pembedahan pemindahan hati ke atas bayi lelaki berusia empat bulan, sekali gus membuktikan kepakaran perubatan Malaysia berada di peringkat bertaraf dunia.

Bayi tersebut mengalami kegagalan hati kritikal dan berada di ambang kehilangan nyawa sebelum pasukan pakar PPUM bertindak pantas menyelamatkannya.

Kejayaan ini bukan sekadar pencapaian klinikal, malah menjadi bukti bagaimana komitmen UM terhadap penyelidikan bertaraf global diterjemahkan kepada impak sebenar kepada pesakit.

📈 Susulan kejayaan ini, UM akan menambah dewan bedah baharu di PPUM bagi memperkukuh infrastruktur, kemudahan rawatan kritikal serta sistem sokongan pasukan kepakaran perubatan.

From labour ward to laughter ward 😄 — our Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology took a well-deserved break this weekend with an energising team-building retreat inspired by the movement!

We moved our bodies 🏃‍♀️🧘‍♂️, strengthened our teamwork 🤝, recharged our minds 🧠, and reminded ourselves that healthy doctors make better doctors 💚. Beyond scrubs and call rooms, we bonded through fun activities, shared laughs, and rediscovered the power of movement, connection, and balance.

The day ended on a lovely note with a department lunch at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Bangsar, joined by our external lecturers, trainee lecturers, and service medical officers 🍽️ — a great opportunity to connect, catch up, and strengthen relationships beyond the workplace.

Because caring for women starts with caring for ourselves — physically, mentally, and as a team 💫

Here’s to stronger collaboration, healthier lifestyles, and an O&G team that truly knows how to work hard and move harder 🔥

What a beautiful weekend we had at Sugeh Janda Baik for our O&G PPUM Family Day (6–7 December).
It was a reminder that behind every challenging day at work, we have a team that supports, uplifts, and cares for one another — and our families too.

Grateful for the togetherness, the smiles, the kids running around, the friendships, and the shared memories that make our department feel like home. 💖

As the sun rose on the final morning of our O&G Department Family Day, the energy shifted from excitement to pure, wholesome connection.
🌄✨

Watching our colleagues transform into playful parents, running alongside their little ones during the kids' activities, was a beautiful reminder of what truly matters. The laughter of children mixed with the gentle flow of the river created the perfect soundtrack to a morning of relaxation and bonding. We traded competition for conversation, clues for calm, and simply enjoyed being together in nature.

Thank you for a truly rejuvenating and memorable close to an incredible event. Here’s to the memories made and the balance we cherish!

Adenomyosis was once seen only in women who had finished childbearing, with hysterectomy as the standard treatment. Not anymore.

We’re seeing younger women — including those preparing for IVF — who need pain relief, bleeding control, and most importantly, a uterus capable of carrying a pregnancy.

In this episode, we dive into balancing symptom relief with fertility preservation: diagnosing and phenotyping adenomyosis, optimising the uterus before conception or embryo transfer, and using conservative or minimally invasive treatments to preserve fertility.
