"THE POTENTIAL USE OF MESENCHYMAL STEM CELLS AND THEIR DERIVED EXOSOMES FOR ORTHOPEDIC DISEASES TREATMENT"

1- Osteoporosis is one of the most common age-related skeletal disorders that, in many cases, can lead to bone fractures, and its prevalence is higher in women than men.

2- Exosomes of MSCs contain GLUT3 protein and mRNA. This protein is one of the most important osteoblast differentiation markers and maturation, which increases significantly in hFOB1.19 cells treated with exosomes derived from MSCs.

3- MSC exosomes contain mitochondrial proteins and improve NPCs' mitochondrial function by transferring these proteins to them. Studies show that these exosomes can merge with mitochondria mambrane after entering the NPCs. Besides, MSCs exosomes contain anti-oxidant proteins such as Trap 1, Gpx 4, and Prdx-1, preventing apoptosis by transporting them to cells containing oxidative stress.

THE ROLE OF MESENCHYMAL STEM CELLS IN THE TREATMENT OF TYPE 1 DIABETES

Umbilical cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) are abundant in the umbilical cord's subcortical endothelium and Wharton's jelly. Studies show their potential in treating Type 1 diabetes (T1D) by differentiating into insulin-producing cells and aiding islet cell preservation. UC-MSCs can also address complications like neuropathy and retinopathy. Their non-invasive collection process and lack of ethical concerns make them a promising therapeutic option. Further research is needed to optimize doses and understand their full potential in T1D treatment.

Autoimmune disorders are caused by an overactive immune system that attacks the body's own tissues and organs, leading to chronic inflammation and tissue damage. Traditional treatments for autoimmune disorders, such as corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, can have limited efficacy and cause adverse side effects. However, recent research has shown that UCMSCs have immunomodulatory properties and the ability to suppress immune responses, making them a promising therapy for autoimmune disorders.

UCMSCs are a type of stem cell that can be obtained from the umbilical cord tissue after birth. They have the unique ability to differentiate into a variety of cell types, including bone, cartilage, and fat cells, and have been shown to have immunomodulatory effects on various immune cells.
