Yesterday, MHTC welcomed industry stakeholders to its 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, bringing together potential partners to explore collaboration opportunities and connect with MHTC Elite members.

A key highlight was the 𝗠𝗼𝗨 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 with the AMSPA (Association of Malaysian Spas) , symbolising a purposeful partnership and shared commitment to advancing holistic healthcare and wellness.

Participants also gained insights through 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and the 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 (𝗠𝘆𝗠𝗧) 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, showcasing initiatives and strategies designed to strengthen Malaysia’s global visibility and impact. The sessions fostered meaningful dialogue, alignment, and strategic networking among industry stakeholders.

The day concluded with 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 “𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲”, exploring how medical excellence, wellness, hospitality, and human touch define Malaysia’s unique healthcare proposition.

The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and the AMSPA (Association of Malaysian Spas) have entered into a 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 to strengthen collaboration in integrated healthcare and wellness tourism.

This partnership supports Malaysia’s positioning as a destination for holistic healthcare and wellness experiences under , where Healing Meets Hospitality, bringing together medical excellence, wellness offerings, and preventive care.

Under this MoU, both parties will collaborate on:

✅ Strengthening the integrated healthcare and wellness ecosystem in Malaysia, including pathways for qualified spa and wellness providers to participate in the Malaysia Healthcare ecosystem.

✅ Joint marketing campaigns, events, and international promotions under the Malaysia Healthcare brand.

✅ Industry data collaboration to support insights, planning, and policy advocacy.

✅ Training, knowledge exchange, and service quality alignment.

✅ Engagement with relevant stakeholders to support sustainable sector growth.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to enhancing industry standards, credibility, and global competitiveness of Malaysia’s integrated healthcare and wellness sector.

What happens when our members and partners come together with a shared purpose? Real conversations, fresh ideas, and stronger connections.

MHTC recently hosted a meaningful 𝗠𝗛𝗧𝗖 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, bringing everyone together to align priorities, exchange perspectives, and strengthen collaboration as we build momentum towards 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

The sessions included open and honest conversations on medical tourism performance, looking at what is working and where there is room to grow, alongside shared updates on direction, markets, communications, clinical focus, and regulations. The discussions continued beyond the sessions through networking and one to one conversations that highlighted the value of learning from one another.

Together, we move forward with a shared commitment to growing Malaysia’s healthcare excellence where healing truly meets hospitality.

During the visit, MHTC met with Dr. Yanti Herman, S.H., MH.Kes, Director of Referral Health Services Development, and her team to discuss opportunities for strengthening synergies between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Discussions focused on key areas of collaboration, including:

✅ 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Aligning strategic efforts between Kemenkes RI and Malaysia Healthcare.

The meeting was attended by MHTC representatives, including Lokman Izam Abd Aziz, Vice President of Marketing & Communications; Rahmatullah Baragau, Senior Manager of Marketing (Indonesia Market); and Awanda Intan Buana, Senior Executive of Marketing (Indonesia Market).

Also present were Hairi Mohd Yakzan, Director of Tourism Malaysia , along with representatives from the Embassy of Malaysia in Indonesia, including Gobinath Nadarajah, First Secretary.

MHTC was honoured to engage with students and academics at the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺, organised by the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communications, Universiti Putra Malaysia (Fakulti Bahasa Moden dan Komunikasi UPM ). The symposium serves as a platform for dialogue on wellness, mental health, communication, and their growing relevance within contemporary healthcare and society.

Representing MHTC were Dr. Sharifa Shahreen Syed Sultan Ahmed, Vice President of Healthcare. These engagements reinforce the link between healthcare practice, academic research, and responsible communication, while also promoting increased awareness of holistic wellbeing and human-centred care, particularly in the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 ( ).

By maintaining ongoing collaboration with universities and industry partners, MHTC is dedicated to developing a healthcare ecosystem that emphasises prevention, wellness, and trust, supporting Malaysia’s wider healthcare and wellness goals.
