Last Thursday, we had an enlightening session by BK Menon, where we explored a very deep and powerful truth that governs every soulโs journey โ the Law of Karma.
Very simply, karma means action. But not just physical action โ it includes our thoughts, words, and deeds. Every moment, the soul is creating karma.
Let us understand this in three aspects:
1. Past Karma โ Accumulated Sanskars
What we experience today is not random. It is the result of our accumulated past karma. Every action performed in the past โ whether from yesterday, last year, or even previous births โ is stored within the soul as sanskars.
These sanskars shape:
* our tendencies
* our reactions
* our life situations
This is why sometimes things happen that we cannot logically explain. It is simply the return of past karma.
2. Karma in Transition โ From Past to Destiny
Part of our accumulated karma comes into action and becomes our present circumstances โ what we often call fate or destiny.
But here is the most empowering truth:
๐ Destiny is not fixed โ it is influenced by present karma.
What is coming to us is based on the past,
but how we respond to itโฆ creates the future.
3. Present Karma โ The Power We Hold Now
In the present moment, we are constantly creating new karma through:
* Thoughts
* Words
* Actions
This is where our real power lies.
If our thoughts are pure, our words kind, and our actions elevated, we create positive karma โ and that becomes future happiness.
If our thoughts are negative, our words hurtful, and our actions harmful, we create negative karma โ and that returns as sorrow.

Application of the Law of Karma
Knowing this law is not enough โ we must apply it.
1. Stop Negative Actions
First, we become aware:
* What am I thinking?
* What am I speaking?
* How am I behaving?
We gently stop creating harm โ not just outwardly, but internally.
2. Do Good
We consciously choose:
* good intentions
* kind words
* elevated actions
Even a pure thought is a powerful karma.
3. Remember the Self and God
This is the foundation.
When I remember:
* I am a peaceful, pure soul
* I belong to the Supreme Soul
Then my thoughts automatically become elevated.
Remembrance gives us the strength to:
* settle past karma
* avoid creating new negative karma
* and fill the self with spiritual power

Conclusion
The law of karma is not a punishment system โ it is a law of justice and balance.
Whatever I giveโฆ returns.
Not immediately, but accurately.
So instead of asking:
โWhy is this happening to me?โ
We shift to:
โWhat can I learn from this, and what am I creating now?โ
The past is done.
The future is not yet here.
But the present is in our hands.
Let us:
* create pure thoughts
* speak with love
* act with awareness
And stay connected with the Supreme.
Because when the soul is connected to God,
karma becomes easy, elevated, and powerful.
