🚨 Child Drowning Is Preventable — Parents Play the Most Critical Role
Recent incidents remind us of a painful truth:
children can drown silently, quickly, and even in shallow water.
Most of the Hotels & Condominiums having swimming pool with just 4 feet and Parents thought it is just OK but they didn’t really think from the Kids point of view. A swimming pool with only 4 feet depth is already dangerous for children — especially when there is no active adult supervision.
Why parental supervision matters most
• Children do not splash or shout when drowning — it happens quietly within seconds
• A moment of distraction (phone, chatting, walking away) can turn into tragedy
• Hotel and public pools are not childcare facilities
• Lifeguards, if present, do not replace parents’ responsibility
Common misconceptions parents must stop believing
❌ “The water is shallow, it’s safe”
❌ “My child knows how to swim”
❌ “Just a few minutes is okay”
❌ “Someone else is watching”
Drowning can happen in less than 30 seconds.
What parents MUST do
✅ Stay within arm’s reach of young children
✅ Keep eyes on the child at all times — no phones
✅ Assign one adult as the ‘water watcher’
✅ Use proper life jackets, not toys
✅ Learn basic life support (CPR & rescue skills)
✅ Teach children water safety early — but never rely on it alone
Remember this
**Supervision is not being nearby.
Supervision is watching
