Currently, Dr. Nakao-Kato is a Professor at Tohoku Seikatsu Bunka University, where she is deeply involved in training the next generation of registered dietitians. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she plays a crucial leadership role as the IDDSI Japan Reference Group Leader and Vice Chair of the IDDSI Asia Reference Group. Her contributions to these organizations are instrumental in advancing standards for dysphagia care both in Japan and across Asia.

Julie has served as a clinical expert on dysphagia for government organizations and as a consultant for professional organizations.
