At NCSM, our mission in building a nationwide support system for cancer patients goes beyond awareness and screening. We have always prioritised highlighting the importance of the continuum of care which includes early detection, patient navigation, financial access, treatment access and survivorship access.

In advancing this vision, private hospitals have never been on the sidelines. Rather, they have been and continue to be actively integrated into our efforts to build a cohesive health care ecosystem, alongside other partners across Malaysia’s broader health care landscape.

The National Cancer Society Malaysia is proud to announce a meaningful collaboration with Biocon Sdn. Bhd., marking an important step forward in enhancing the accessibility and delivery of cancer care in Malaysia. Here’s what it could mean in practice:

1. Improved Access to Care
The introduction of shuttle services directly addresses one of the biggest barriers to treatment, transportation. Patients, especially those from underserved or remote communities, will have more reliable access to screenings, treatments, and support services.

2. Reduced Financial Burden on Patients
By easing transportation costs, this initiative can help alleviate the indirect financial strain often faced by cancer patients and their families, making it easier to stay consistent with treatment and follow-ups.

3. Stronger Patient Support Ecosystem
With enhanced accessibility, more individuals can benefit from NCSM’s holistic services, including counselling, rehabilitation, and community support, leading to better overall patient outcomes.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from Biocon Sdn. Bhd., Mr Joe Sian Chean Fei, Vice President and Site Head, and Ms Sugeetha Nair Kersenernayer, Associate Manager – Sustainability and CSR, alongside Kol. Bersekutu (PA) Prof. Dr Murallitharan Munisamy, Managing Director of NCSM.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all participants who joined us on 10 April 2026 for the LEGO therapy session at consciousPLAY. It was truly encouraging to witness lung cancer patients and caregivers come together in a safe and supportive environment, fostering connection while engaging in a calming and meaningful creative activity.

Such sessions highlight the importance of holistic care, where emotional well-being, social support, and moments of relaxation play a vital role alongside medical treatment. 💛
