Thai Massage is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian ayurvedic principles and assisted yoga positions. In the Thai language, it is called “nuat phaen thai” (Thai-style massage) or “nuat phaen boran” (ancient-style massage). Its formal name is “nuat thai” (Thai massage), according to the Traditional Thai Medical Professions Act, BE 2556 (2013). Traditional Thai Massage uses no oils, and the customer remains clothed during the session. Rather than rubbing the muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, and stretched.
