where we will be discussing about the dire need for spa operators to be treated fairly and not be ostracized. The Spa industry in Malaysia pleads with the Government not to single out spa operators as being the first to close and the last to open during MCOs.
The Spa Associations in Malaysia have raised concerns that, in the eyes of the Authorities, the spa industry is neither given due recognition as a contributor to the health and wellness sectors, nor as being on par with hairdressing and beauty salons which fall under the beauty sector.
With the continuation of the independent spa industry having been misplaced in the ‘entertainment’ sector alongside cinemas, karaoke centres and nightclubs during MCOs instead of under 'spa and wellness' and the rule of being the first to close and the last to open, the spa industry is certainly headed towards a possible collapse.
We can protect spa therapists so that they can serve and promote the wellbeing of the community safely by prioritising mandatory vaccination of spa therapists. This solution also saves the spa industry from untenable prolonged closures.
