Xue Hai 血海 (SP10) is located along the spleen meridian. It harmonizes qi and blood , clear heat, cools (skin disorders present with redness, itching, inflammation such as rashes, eczema, psoriasis or hives), move the blood, regulates menstrual (irregular, painful, no me**es, anemia, clots, heavy menstrual bleeding) and pain of the knee or leg.

Xue Hai is believed to have an impact on blood sugar levels, particularly in the context of diabetes. Energetically, it is a sea of blood, meaning it has a profound influence on the blood.

This point is located above the kneecap, roughly two inches away from the center of the body at the bottom portion of the thigh muscle.

To massage this point:
Place two fingers on the xuehai point.
Apply gentle but firm pressure to the point with both fingers.
Use a circular motion to massage the point for 2 to 3 minutes.
Repeat on the other side.

Cautions: Do not use acupressure as self-care when pregnant without the guidance of a liscensed acupuncturist.

The relationship between the liver and gallbladder is a fundamental aspect of the body's overall balance and functioning. This relationship is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine's Five Element theory and the concept of organ networks. The liver and gallbladder are associated with the Wood element, and their dynamic interaction is often expressed as "肝与胆相表里" or "The Liver and Gallbladder are Exterior and Interiorly Related."

The liver and gallbladder are interconnected in the processes of digestion and the regulation of bile. The liver ensures the smooth flow of Qi, while the gallbladder stores and secretes bile for the digestion of fats. Their collaboration is crucial for the proper functioning of the digestive system.

Furthermore, the liver is closely associated with the regulation of emotions, particularly anger. Imbalances in the liver may lead to emotional disturbances. The gallbladder, on the other hand, is linked to decision-making and courage. A harmonious relationship between the liver and gallbladder is essential for a balanced emotional well-being.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine theory,, maintaining the balance between the liver and gallbladder is crucial for overall health. Practitioners may use acupuncture, herbal remedies, dietary recommendations and lifestyle adjustments to address imbalances and support the harmonious functioning of these organs.💕

04/03/2026

Gastric pain and discomfort, particularly when fluctuating with mood or emotional stress, is often recognised in biomedicine as stress-related dyspepsia, functional gastrointestinal disorder, or even as a component of gastritis and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Modern medicine acknowledges that stress and emotional imbalance can affect gastric motility, acid secretion, and sensitivity of the stomach lining, leading to pain, bloating, and indigestion. Patients frequently report that their symptoms worsen during periods of frustration, anger, or tension, and may be accompanied by belching, nausea, or appetite changes.

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this presentation corresponds to the pattern of Liver Qi Stagnation Invading the Stomach (肝气犯胃). In this syndrome, emotional stress or long-standing frustration causes stagnation of Liver qi. Because the Liver is responsible for free flow of qi, its stagnation easily overacts on the Stomach, disrupting its harmony and impairing digestion. This leads to rebellious Stomach qi, resulting in discomfort and irregular digestion. Clinical manifestations include distending epigastric pain or fullness, pain that fluctuates with emotions, frequent belching, acid regurgitation, nausea, poor appetite, and sometimes sighing or irritability.

Key acupoints for soothing the Liver and harmonising the Stomach include LR3 Tai Chong (太冲) and ST36 Zu San Li (足三里). Tai Chong is the principal point to regulate Liver qi, disperse stagnation, and relieve stress-induced tension. Zu San Li strengthens the Stomach, regulates qi, and improves digestion. Together, they restore balance between the Liver and Stomach. In herbal therapy, the classical formula Chai Hu Shu Gan San (柴胡疏肝散) is often prescribed. This formula is especially effective when gastric symptoms are linked to emotional frustration, irritability, or stress.

✨ 下三皇 (Lower Three Emperors) – Powerful Acupoints for Reproductive & Hormonal Health

Located along the inner leg, these three acupoints are often used together in acupuncture to tonify kidney yang, nourish jing (essence), and regulate reproductive and hormonal function. In TCM, the kidney system plays a central role in fertility, libido, and menstrual health.

✨ Helpful for:
• Irregular or painful periods
• Hormonal imbalance (e.g. PMS, perimenopause)
• Infertility support
• Low libido or yang deficiency
• Weak lower back and knees due to kidney weakness

These points are also great for supporting overall vitality and energy by strengthening the root of the body—the Kidneys.

In Chinese medicine it is said that the liver opens into the eyes. Diseases of the eyes are mainly related to liver in Chinese Medicine. It is also understood that the liver blood nourishes and moistens the eyes. Dry eyes, red, bloodshot eyes, blurred vision, spots or floaters, poor eyesight and poor night vision are due to liver blood deficiency or liver fire.

The lens of the eye and the pupil relates to the kidney, the sclera to the lungs, the arteries and veins to the heart, the top eyelid to the spleen, the lower eyelid to the stomach & the cornea and iris to the liver. Imbalances in any of the organs may lead to eye disease too.

The eyes are the window to the Shen (spirit). Practitioners will observe the state of the eyes whenever you come for treatment. We can see the quality of a persons spirit through the eyes. Here are some of the examples:

- Shining, bright & clear eyes: open shen/spirit, strong vitality
- Dull eyes: shen issues such as long term emotional struggles, long term drug use
- Redness of the eyes: wind heat or liver fire
- Yellow sclera: dampness, poor digestion, liver issues; jaundice
- Spots in the visual field: body constitution weakness, blood or yin deficiency, overwork, overthink
- Dark circles under the eyes: kidney deficiency
- Eyebags: spleen deficiency with dampness

Tapping on the Gall Bladder Meridian

Long hours sitting in the office causing heavier lower body? Tapping on Gall Bladder Meridian is a perfect exercise for sedentary people. This exercise is done by patting or tapping on the side of the legs to help stimulate Gall Bladder Meridians. It can help to expel toxins, promote the production of bile and improve digestion. It may also help with sciatica, lower back pain, knee pain, water retention of the lower legs, as well as shoulder and neck tension and alleviates headache.

It is especially good for muscle stiffness and pain of the legs and thighs. Thigh muscle tightness has becoming more common for those who sits all day or driving long hours/stuck in a traffic jam. Stagnation of Qi at the outer thighs may contribute to fat accumulation. Exercises or stimulating the Gall Bladder Meridian helps to move the Qi flow.

Practice this exercise morning/daytime or whenever you have the opportunity. It can be done anywhere while seating. Make a fist to apply pressure and continue tapping the outer thigh from hip to the knee as shown in the video. Repeat this for at least 5 minutes. You can also use any massage tool to create the tapping or patting movement. It is not a substitute to regular exercises, but an additional method to move Qi and blood to practice daily.

02/03/2026

Acne vulgaris or common acne is a common inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous glands characterized by papules, comedones, pustules, inflamed nodules and superficial pus filled cysts. There are many causes of acne in Chinese Medicine, mainly due to deficiency of internal organs, heat formation from stagnation, imbalances of yin and yang, poor diet, excessive stress and lack of sleep. Acne primarily involves damp and heat but can also have dryness and heat when there is yin deficiency or deficiency heat.

Below are the common acne types and its causes:
- Bright and dark red acne: heat exuberance
- Pale red: deficiency heat
- Purplish: blood stagnation
- Purplish red: blood stasis with heat
- Whiteheads: phlegm, dampness and turbidity
- Yellow pus: damp heat
- Oily and greasy skin: dampness or damp heat
- Dry skin: deficiency heat

Other than a good skincare routine to address your skin type and issues, internal care is just as important. Prescribed and customized herbal medicine is given depending on the type of acne. It is common to have more than 1 type of acne.

Acupuncture helps to reduce inflammation, fasten healing and regulate internal imbalances too. Acne may take a longer time to heal as it is just a reflection of internal imbalances. Once the internal issues are addressed, the skin will start to reciprocate.

02/03/2026

Heat in Qi Stage(气) stage represents the second and deeper phase of pathogenic heat pe*******on in the Wei Qi Ying Xue differentiation system of Wen Bing (温病). At this level, the pathogen has moved from the exterior into the interior of the body and primarily affects the functional Qi of the Zang-Fu organs (脏腑), especially the Lung and Stomach. Unlike the Wei stage, where the pathogen remains superficial, the Qi stage is characterised by interior excess heat, reflecting a strong struggle between pathogenic heat and the body’s Zheng Qi (正气). The Defensive Qi (卫气) is no longer able to contain the pathogen at the surface, allowing heat to accumulate internally and disrupt normal physiological functions.

Clinically, the Qi stage presents with high fever without chills, profuse sweating, strong thirst with preference for cold drinks, irritability, and restlessness. Respiratory symptoms such as cough with thick yellow sputum and chest fullness may occur when the Lung is affected, while digestive symptoms such as abdominal distension, constipation, nausea, and vomiting appear when the Stomach and Intestines are involved. These manifestations indicate that heat is consuming body fluids and Qi, leading to dehydration, dryness, and internal stagnation.

Treatment strategies focus on clearing heat from the affected organs rather than releasing the exterior. Herbal approaches emphasize cooling, heat-clearing, and fluid-preserving substances, while avoiding overly dispersing methods that could further damage Qi such as Bai Hu Tang and Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang depending on the organ systems involved.

Acupuncture treatment emphasizes clearing heat from the affected organs while preserving Qi and fluids, aiming to prevent further damage and deeper progression into the Nutritive and Blood levels. This stage requires prompt and accurate intervention to prevent further progression into the deeper deeper Ying (营) and Xue (血) levels, where heat begins to damage Yin, Blood, and the Spirit.

The Qi stage is a critical turning point in Wen Bing progression. Effective treatment at this level can halt disease advancement and restore physiological balance.
