Certain habits or factors can deplete/drain Qi and Blood, leading to imbalances and potential health issues.

Buddha's Triangle is a term used to describe three acupuncture points located on the wrist. These points are Shen Men (HT7), Nei Guan (PC6), and Tai Yuan (LU9).

The name Buddha's Triangle comes from the fact that the three acupuncture points that make up the triangle are associated with the heart, pericardium, and lungs. In traditional Chinese medicine, these organs are believed to be closely connected to the emotions, and stimulating these points can help to improve emotional balance and well-being.

It is also thought to be a reference to the fact that the Buddha was known for his calm and peaceful demeanor. It is believed that stimulating these points can help to cultivate a similar state of mind.

- Shen Men (HT7): helps to calm the spirit and mind. Especially good for palpitations, anxiety, nausea with anxiety or panic attack, insomnia, poor memory, depression, disorientation and grief. It greatly helps with heart related emotional issues.

- Nei Guan (PC6): Opens and unbinds the chest, and helpful for chest tightness, angina, palpitations. It is also good for insomnia, nervousness, stress and poor memory. It harmonises and helps to heal the stomach and alleviates nausea, vomiting and clears heat. This point doesn’t just help with digestive issues, but helps with the emotional aspect of the “gut.” The pericardium is technically the outer layer of the heart, and using this point helps to build up or strengthens the hearts protector, which has a beneficial emotional aspect. The pericardium also speaks to how we relate and express ourselves to others in life.

- Tai Yuan (LU9): tonifies the Lungs and transforms phlegm as well as promotes the descending function of the lung. The lung relates to sadness, grief and letting go. Strong lung function brings clarity to the mind and not let us to hold on things that no longer serve us. People with stagnation often have shallow breathing. This acupuncture point helps to relax the nervous system and makes deep breathing easier.

Excessive Heart Fire 心火旺 refers to a pattern of disharmony where there is an overabundance of Heat energy affecting the Heart organ system. The Heart is considered the "emperor" of all organs, governing not only blood circulation but also mental activities, consciousness and emotions. Fire is one of the Five Elements and represents a dynamic and transformative force. Excessive Fire can disrupt the balance within the body.

Characteristics of excessive Heart fire include restlessness, agitation, excessive joy or excitement, irritability, insomnia, vivid dreams, and in severe cases, mania or hysteria. Physical symptoms include red face, feeling of heat or warmth, thirst, dry mouth and throat, mouth ulcers, bitter taste in the mouth, rapid heartbeat, and possibly palpitations.

Chronic stress, anxiety or emotional turmoil can lead to the accumulation of Heat in the Heart. Excessive joy or excitement over time can also contribute. Strong emotional reactions such as anger or frustration that are not properly managed can exacerbate this pattern. Meanwhile, consumption of spicy, greasy, fried foods, excessive alcohol, caffeine, and stimulants can contribute to Heat accumulation. Prolonged exposure to hot weather or environments can also aggravate Heat in the body.

In clinical practice, herbal formulas containing herbs with cooling properties are prescribed to clear Heat from the Heart and calm the Shen (mind), like Xie Xin Tang or Dao Chi San. Certain acupuncture points (Lao Gong, Xin Shu, Shen Men, Tai Chong, etc) and techniques are used to calm the mind and reduce emotional agitation.

Avoid spicy, greasy and overly stimulating foods is recommended. Emphasize cooling and hydrating foods like cucumber, watermelon, mung beans and leafy greens. Green tea can be beneficial for its cooling properties. Practicing stress-reduction techniques such as meditation, Tai Chi or Qi Gong can help calm the mind and regulate emotions. Adequate rest and regular sleep patterns are also important. Minimize or eliminate caffeine, alcohol and recreational drugs as these can exacerbate symptoms of excessive heart fire.

In Chinese Medicine theory, heart governs spirit and mind. For individual who has bad sleeping quality, insomnia, or dreamy, he or she often has heart fire. For this issue usually associate with dry mouth and tongue, ulcers, constipation, anger and restlessness.

Most of the important points of heart meridians located near the wrist, which are Shen Men神门 (HT7) , Yin Xi 阴郄(HT6) , Tong Li 通里(HT5). These points are the useful point to calm down the heart, replenishing heart Qi and balance heart Yin. Guasha on these points toward the palm on the forearm helps to clear the heart fire, replenish the heart yin and promote good sleeping quality. Acupuncture on these points will help to induce the heart function too!💓
