Our Heart Team is proud to have participated in the ASEAN Federation of Cardiology Congress (AFCC) in Penang this year, a regional platform that brings together leading experts in cardiovascular health across Southeast Asia. This annual gathering serves as a hub for sharing the latest developments, clinical insights, and innovations in cardiovascular care.

Throughout the event, our doctors contributed to discussions that focused on improving patient outcomes. Among the topics explored were new approaches to managing heart attacks, enhancing recovery after valve surgery, identifying high-risk patients for earlier treatment, and preventing sudden cardiac death.

A glimpse into the focus and precision in the operating theatre as Dr Leong Yew Pung and Dr Tan Kong Hean performed Malaysia’s first Castor™️ Branched Aortic Stent Graft System procedure. It’s the world’s first device to repair the aorta and supra-aortic branches in a single, minimally invasive step.

We were proud to once again host MedSEAL 2025 at CVSKL, a two-day vascular intervention workshop designed to enhance practical skills and knowledge sharing across the region. This year, we welcomed five vascular surgeons from the Philippines and Indonesia for intensive proctoring under the guidance of Dr. Tan Kia Lean, Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon.

Over the two days, participants took part in lectures, live case demonstrations, and hands-on observations covering VenaSeal treatment for varicose veins, EndoVenous Radiofrequency Ablation, the Seldinger technique, and insights on ultrasound-guided vascular access.

We also took the opportunity to celebrate a significant milestone, our 250th VenaSeal procedure at CVSKL, underscoring our ongoing commitment to minimally-invasive vascular care.

We’re grateful to our regional guests for their active participation and to our partner, Medtronic, for their collaboration in making this programme possible. Together, we continue to advance excellence in vascular care across Southeast Asia.

While a cardiologist focuses on the heart structure and how it functions, an electrophysiologist investigates the electrical signals that control its rhythm.

We believe meaningful care begins with meaningful connection. Recently, our team traveled to Pulau Ketam for a heart health awareness event in collaboration with JPKK Bagan Pulau Ketam and Klinik Kesihatan Pulau Ketam. Held at Dewan Orang Ramai Pulau Ketam, the initiative aimed to promote early detection and empower the local community with essential heart health knowledge.

The programme featured a heart health talk and an interactive Q&A session with Dr. Goh Khiam Yan, our consultant cardiologist, who shared practical insights on heart disease prevention and lifestyle management. Residents also received free health screening exams, including ECG and Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) tests, conducted by our senior sonographer, Ms. Wendy Wong, to assess heart rhythm and vascular health.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners and the people of Pulau Ketam for their warm welcome and active participation. Dato’ Dr. Tamil Selvan Muthusamy, our consultant cardiologist returned to his hometown of Johor Bahru to lead two impactful sessions for the community and local general practitioners aimed at raising awareness on the early detection and treatment of coronary and valvular heart disease.

The sessions covered key topics including aortic stenosis, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) as a minimally invasive option, complex coronary artery diseases (CAD), and the use of the Impella heart pump, supported by real-life case discussions. The public session also featured an exciting lucky draw, a health screening voucher worth RM2,600!

During the GP session, Dr. Tamil also had the opportunity to reunite with Dr. Mohd Shahrom Ujang, Consultant Cardiologist at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital, who joined as a guest speaker.

Our Consultant Electrophysiologist and Cardiologist, Dr Razali, led a focused teaching session for our Complex Arrhythmia Programme (CAP) participants in the cath lab. Through real case discussions—including one on pulsed field ablation (PFA), he provided valuable insights to enhance clinical skills and procedural judgement.

These sessions aim to bridge theory with hands-on application, offering participants meaningful exposure to complex arrhythmia management under expert guidance.

We are proud to have brought heart health education to Surabaya in collaboration with AIA Indonesia, engaging clients and agents from the SGA Immanuel Premier Group Agency in an exclusive session tailored to promote cardiovascular wellness.

Our Consultant Cardiologist, Dato’ Dr. Tamil Selvan Muthusamy, led the session with an engaging talk focused on heart health awareness and preventive care. On the same day, he also addressed members of the media in a dedicated session highlighting current heart health concerns and the importance of early intervention.
