I would like to take this opportunity to thank my good friend Padungkiat Tangpiroontham for proctoring and helping to kick start my first Robotic thoracic surgery case.
Also would like to thank Dr Ghazaime Anaesthetist for a smooth anaesthesia for this patient as well as the entire Nursing Team involved.
Never thought I would venture into Robotic Surgery in this Lifetime but Intuitive and Device Technology with their Da Vinci System made it possible .

Another Milestone in Clinical Excellence at Prince Court

Prince Court Medical Centre has reached a new benchmark in paediatric surgical care with the successful completion of a uniportal, gasless Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) Thymectomy on a 5-year-old child — the youngest known case in Malaysia for this procedure in a patient with Myasthenia Gravis.

The young patient was initially diagnosed with Ocular Myasthenia Gravis by Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Mohd Feizel Al Siddiq. After four months of limited response to medical therapy, surgery was recommended as the next step in care.

Despite the complexity due to the patient’s age, the surgery was performed successfully by Dr. Syariz Izry Sehat, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, and Dr. George John, Consultant General and Thoracic Surgeon, using a minimally invasive, gasless uniportal VATS technique.

Today, the patient is showing strong signs of recovery and continues to improve post-operatively.

This case underscores Prince Court’s unwavering commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-first care — even in the most challenging circumstances.

Glad to assist my Paediatric Surgeon today to perform Uniportal VATS Thymectomy in a 5 year old Child with Ocular Myasthenia gravis . This i believe is the First Uniportal VATS Thymectomy in a child in Malaysia to date performed and happy to teach Uniportal technique to my Paeds Surgeon in his First VATS Thymectomy..

Kudos to my Anaesthesiologist as well for the good teamwork and to the entire OT Team in Prince Court Medical Centre (Official)

Obstructed Inguinal Hernia is not a contraindication for Laparoscopic Repair.

This patient presented with 3 days history of obstructed inguinal hernia and intra operatively noted a loop of small bowel stuck in the hernia sac.

Coincidentally also found to have a small umbilical hernia as well.

Successfully underwent TAPP and Umbilical Hernia Repair.
