Mysore Room A Traditional Ashtanga Yoga Space in the heart of Kuala Lumpur

Traditional Ashtanga Yoga classes in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city taught by Yan Ong and Manuel Ferreira, both Level 2 Authorised teachers of the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI). Ashtanga Yoga is the yoga of 8 limbs and one of the few existing yoga traditions kept alive by a strict lineage of teachings passed down thru history. Mysore Room classes teaches Ashtanga Yoga as it is taught in the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India and both teachers are direct disciples of the Jois family. All teachings within Mysore Room are dedicated to Sharath Jois, KPJAYI and the late Guruji in humble pursuit to preserve and carry forth teaching this lineage of yoga in its purest form.

[Please Note: (1) Please bring your own yoga mat & hand towel (2) on the last Friday of every month there is a Led Primary Class at 6.45-8.15am. Mysore Class will resume from 8.30-10am on these days (3) on most public holidays class will be at 9-11am and no evening class, please check the Facebook wall for updates.]

Mysore Room is 11 years old!

We’ve been the home for Ashtanga Yoga Kula Lumpur for over a decade now and look forward to offering another 11 years of Ashtanga and more! It is our life’s mission to bring the life improving Ashtanga experience to students.

All 3 teachers at Mysore Room has gone to Mysore, India, multiple times for months and had the privilege to practice with the late Paramaguru Sharath Jois . Manuel has being going to Mysore for 21 years, Yan for 16 years and Perlin for 3 years. Our learning is pure, our practice is deep and therefore our teaching is consistent and clear but most importantly from decades of experience.

We hope to continue to set the bar in quality of yoga teaching to both students & teachers in Malaysia and globally.

Looking back many of us have spent alot of time the last year thinking about what the Ashtanga community has lost, and rightly so.

It was massive. But looking around me this month I realised Sharathji didn’t just leave behind a special practice but one of the most spectacular things he also created and left behind is a beautiful community of Ashtanga practitioners.

Protecting his legacy is not just protecting his teachings but also the community he left behind, honouring his work is not only preserving the practice and but also strengthening the unity of community.

Community is a collection of individuals with commonality such as an interest or location. What makes it a beautiful phenomenon is that each are individuals, unique and different in our own way but still brought together. It only works when we respect our differences, perhaps admire it even, and enjoy the diversity as we enjoy a shared interest.

What a wonderful experience to be surrounded by people from everywhere bound together by one simple practice.

Dear students, today we head back to Mysore, India to practice at Sharath Yoga Center SYC. It’s the time of the year that we focus in ourselves as students so we can continue to support the practice of all of you.

From tomorrow, 15th of December until the 3rd of January 2026 Mysore Room will be open for self practice for Mysore Room students ONLY with a valid pass or valid membership. Passes and memberships will be extended during this time. Our assistants, Hannah, Tammy and Hui will open the door at 6:30am.

From the 5th to the 18th of January Brian Chan will be teaching all Mysore & Led classes. Brian will also conduct 2 Workshops on the 11th @ 18th of January.

Paramaguru Sharath Jois Birthday Led Class tomorrow.

Tomorrow on the 29th September we celebrate the birthday of our dear late teacher with a free Led Primary Class guided by him.

A man that devoted his life so that we could benefit in endless ways thru this practice, we shall celebrate his life, his devotion & his hope that we will continue to share this teachings & all become better people.

Spaces extremely limited and attendance is by booking only.
