Why We Don’t Encourage W-Sitting 💛
Many children love to sit in the “W” position because it feels stable. But if it becomes their main sitting habit, it can affect their development:
✨ Less use of core muscles → weaker tummy & back strength
✨ Limited trunk rotation → harder for them to cross midline & build coordination
✨ Extra pressure on hips, knees & ankles → may cause discomfort later on
🌱 The good news? Occasional W-sitting is not harmful!
Parents can gently encourage other positions like cross-legged, side sitting, or long sitting to help with healthy growth.
At One Rehab, we guide parents step by step on what’s normal and how to support better posture.
