Our women's empowerment programme held in Sungai Petani brought thirty women together who learnt to nurture their mental health and how to set goals.

For this project we brought in other facilitators to add value and diversity in our content.

This was a one and half day programme where we learnt various coping strategies to navigate life's challenges.

The half day was devoted to creating a vision board and sharing our dreams.

Our evidence supported modules were: The Art of Forgiving, Creating Positive States, Challenging my Negative Thoughts, Mindfulness, Food and Mood live demo and many more.

We were commissioned by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Malaysia to deliver workplace mental health management training.

The cohort came from different industries and backgrounds. There were challenges as some had varying levels of understanding of the English language.

I overcame this by:

1. Using lots of visual aids
2. Checking their understanding by encouraging questions
3. Use role playing to make it more fun
4. Repeating and reinforcing points
5. Use a mix of English and BM

While AI is currently the buzzword with many businesses going digital there are still some things that require the human touch.

RecoverNow is proud to announce a new partner in Koamathi Supramanian a florist with over 19 years of experience.

Graduating in sports science Ms Koamathi decided to embark on a different career path to pursue what is truly her passion - floristry.

She learnt her craft from top designers in Malaysia, Russia and Portugal and have participated in national and international competitions.

Flower arranging is not just about putting flowers in a container.

To design with intention there is much to consider. Is the arrangement for a corporate lunch table or a funeral? Then there is colour, shape, form and composition to think about.

In a masterclass that she conducted I find that while there are basic rules to follow in designing an arrangement each student brings in her personality and skills set into the final product - something AI can never replicate.

Being in her class I learnt to focus, think, look, smell and touch. Depression, anxiety and stress melt away. Enter joy, satisfaction and self esteem and best of all the art of mindfulness which so many of us need for our mental health.

This is a true representation of teamwork.

A team shares a common goal. In this case to get to the other side using the contraption (the challenge) on our feet.

Members of the team need to observe each other and move together as one unit.

If this doesn't work one of us falls.

When that happens we pick ourselves up and carry on.

Many of us carry anger, regret and disappointment for a long time that we become depressed, resentful and disillusioned with life.

Often these feelings stem from some wrong doing that someone, from somewhere has done to us a long time ago. And yet we have not moved on.

To live a mentally healthy life harmoniously with all the challenges that life throws at us we need to forgive others - even ourselves.

The Art of Forgiving is a module we teach usually at one of our retreats as part of a full day programme titled "Nurturing My Mental Health".

It's a cathartic process that clients go through that's both liberating and transformative.

The buzzword is mental health for these employees and some of them have shared personal struggles and triumphs.

Training took a whole day with the objectives of raising awareness, reducing stigma surrounding mental ill health and encouraging help seeking behaviour.
