ective, I am a Malaysian of ethnic Chinese origin: born in Malaysia, and have spent some of my growing years in the West. I contribute in Malaysia and internationally through Mindfulness Coaching, as well as through my writings on Mindfulness and related Topics. I would say throughout my formal education, I attended good schools. At the age of 16, I attended a prestigious boarding school just outside London. However, I never learned how to find peace in myself. I first became involved in mindfulness when I went to study at Leeds university in England. Initially, I was looking for a way to improve my concentration for my studies. This sparked an over 24 year mindfulness journey. My learning journey subsequently took me to Perth in Australia, and then back to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In terms of qualifications, I have a Bsc. with Honours in Psychology from Upper Iowa University, and am a Certified Stress Management Consultant from IACT, US. Since 2008, I'd been teaching mindfulness classes, and doing coaching. I have been a speaker at Silva Method graduate meetings and various other Centres. I have contributed articles to Yoga Life magazine and have been interviewed on stress management at ASTRO (a satellite television network). It's been an interesting, and often challenging journey since I first started out, with ups and downs. I have found that my journey has deepened quite significantly over the years. Peace,
Gerrald

A simple yet deep quote. Everyday, I have the habit of walking barefoot on my apartment grounds. I enjoy the trees, flowers, the blue swimming pool, the sounds of the birds and cicadas. I feel my feet as they touch the ground. Sometimes I radiate loving-kindness to all life. Indeed, there are refreshing and healing elements all around.

This afternoon, I am enjoying drinking my tea mindfully. Aware of the many conditions that made this tea available: the clouds, the soil, sunshine, air, earthworms, farmer, and the brewing of the tea: I slowly sip my cup of tea. I am aware of the sensations in my hands and body as I drink. If I remember I take a few mindful breaths.

Drinking in this way, I slow down, relax, and come out of my “doing” and rushing.

Just enjoying the tea drinking mindfully.

Dear friends,

Here are some reflections on the changing fortunes of life. With my recent successes, I had been getting used to the status accorded to me. Then more recently, I took part in an activity where I was a beginner, and was treated as someone lower in “rank”. I noticed that at first I was offended, as if I was not being respected.

Upon returning home, I reflected upon the 8 “worldly winds”: that praise and blame, fame and defame, gain and loss, pleasure and pain, are impermanent. We cannot only have “good”experiences and never have “bad” ones, and vice versa. As long as we cling to the “good”, we will suffer when we experience the “bad”.

Reflecting thus, I came to an acceptance of these conditions and experienced peace.

I hope this reflection is helpful for you.

Peace,
Gerald

Testimonials
I was introduced to Gerald’s Reiki sessions. At that time, I suffered a cracked wrist bone and was emotionally depressed over family issues.
After several healing sessions with Gerald, I arranged for an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. And to my surprise, x-rays revealed that my wrist had healed.
It was also over the course of these healing sessions, both private and general, that I felt tremendous release of deep seated emotional problems. I feel as though a great weight has been lifted from me and I now see myself in a more positive light.

Gerald’s ability to channel healing energy through Reiki coupled with his innate ability to empathize and connect with his patient makes him a very powerful healer. I went from a state of sleepless nights, stress and mental unrest (due to matters at work) to being calm, clear-minded and light hearted after my first healing with Gerald. All heaviness and unrest I had been feeling over the past few months has vanished and though situations at my work place are no different now than they were before, I now feel happy and very at ease.

I had personally undergone quite a major operation. I used Reiki before the operation for self-healing. The next morning after l woke up, I got down the bed myself and walked. I continue to practice Reiki. Friends who visited me were all amazed to see that I did not look sick at all. They had expected to visit me by bedside, and not greeting them in the living hall, sitting there to tell them my experiences.
Later, I tried to help others. One day, I went out with a friend. She mentioned a stiff, aching shoulder. I used Reiki on her shoulders and she smiled and said it helped her. I was delighted.

By choosing what we wish to consume; what we eat, what we watch on social media, what we read; we can water seeds of well-being, joy and kindness, and not water the weeds of tiredness, anger and despair.

I love this quote by Bruce Lee, “Go toward self-actualization rather than self-image actualization. Search within yourself for honest self-expression."

Here are my thoughts on it: Reflecting, I realize that when I communicate with people; whether via conversation, leading a guided meditation, or texting people; I strive to be honest and authentic. On the other hand, when it comes to social media, it’s so easy to want to portray an image of oneself; how we want the world to see us; furthermore, we hide our faults. It is a great art to honestly self-express in all areas of one’s life, and I will continue to work on it!

Dear friends,

Although solitude is necessary in one’s mindfulness practice, a community of practitioners brings support and enhances one’s practice. A community that encourages mindful living, peace, and avoidance of harmful thought, speech and action.

Through the practice of mindfulness and related practices, one learns to accept, know and thus transform one’s suffering. Suffering can be in the form of worries, fear and anger. By embracing these energies within, one lets go of suffering. I’m not just speaking from what I read and learned intellectually: but from personal experience. It is within the reach of everyone to suffer less.

Peace,
Gerrald
