《接纳与承诺疗法（ACT）实践工作坊》

我的性格比较活泼，因此在教学与带领工作坊时，我一向偏好以实验性与体验式的方式进行学习。如果只是坐着听一堆抽象的理论与哲理，我常常会觉得这样的学习过程既沉闷，也不容易真正被内化。学术与理论的钻研本身已经相当耗费心力，因此在教学中，我更希望透过实践，让学员亲身体验那些看似复杂、却极为核心的心理历程。

在这一次的接纳与承诺疗法（Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, ACT）实践工作坊中，我将介绍一系列简单、直接且高度隐喻性的活动，协助学员在实际接触个案时，更自然地带出 ACT 的核心精神与治疗步骤。透过体验式的方式，学员不仅能理解理论，更能知道如何把 ACT 用出来。

在课程中，除了「公共巴士」隐喻活动之外，我也会带领多项操作简易、却非常贴近临床与辅导现场的体验练习。这些活动特别适合应用在儿童与老年个案身上，因为他们往往较难理解抽象的心理理论；相反地，透过实际体验，让他们感受自己思维与情绪是如何运作的，反而更容易帮助他们理解：

自己正在紧抓什么，又在抗拒什么。

我希望透过这个工作坊，让更多辅导员能够以一种更轻、更活、更贴近人的方式来实践接纳与承诺疗法，而不是只停留在理论层次。

也很期待在课堂中与你们相见、一起体验、一起学习。

Your workshop has taught me a lot! Ive implemented a few card activities in my class and in sessions too and it had helped a lot. I hope others can benefit from it too 🙏🏻

For my last day of class, I used the road cards to help the first year students (Masters of Counselling) to share their experiences of how they started, what’s in their present and what the future journey maybe as a budding counsellor. That really help built insight and opportunity to bench mark on what to look forward to in their second year as they are entering their practicum year. There was also another class where we used the INUK cards to explore in the inner world and external world. I love how the circle shapes provided flexibility in the placement of the cards and brings out deeper perspectives.

I think the way you carry the entire workshop for me planted a seed in me to utilise these cards with creativity and flexibility. How these cards also sends out a warm and inviting way for clients and myself even into story telling and sharing of experiences which I think it is both creates a lot of depth and meaning into the sessions

Saga Metaphoric Card Workshop: Understanding the Hero’s Journey through Jungian Theory

DAY 1: Theoretical Foundations · First Steps in Fairy-Tale Symbol Decoding

Starting with an ice-breaking session, we anchor the workshop in Jung’s concept of the collective unconscious, exploring the connection between metaphoric cards and symbolic elements in fairy tales (for example, how the rose represents both love and thorns as metaphor).

We then unpack the four major archetypal symbol categories — characters, nature, scenes, and abstract forms — and decode symbolic patterns commonly found in fairy-tale narratives.

The day concludes with a “Fairy-Tale Relay” hands-on activity, allowing participants to ground symbolic theory in storytelling practice.

DAY 2: Applied Practice · Internalizing Fairy-Tale Narratives

Day 2 features tailored exercises for counselors, educators, and enthusiasts. Participants work in groups to analyze real-world application scenarios, integrating metaphoric cards with fairy-tale elements to develop intervention ideas and case-based storytelling approaches.

The workshop culminates with The Hero’s Journey integration exercise, helping participants consolidate their learning and transform theory into a practical, speakable, and usable narrative framework.

Feedback from metaphoric card workshop particpant:

Dr Chong facilitated a well paced and thoughtfully held metaphorical cards workshop.

The use of images allowed reflection to emerge naturally, especially for experiences that are difficult to express in words. The process felt safe, respectful, and non judgemental, with clear boundaries and gentle guidance throughout.

What stood out was the balance between offering guidance and allowing participants to arrive at their own meaning. The space felt supportive, grounded, and well held.

I found the experience valuable both personally and professionally. It offered insights into how metaphorical cards can be used in a sensitive and ethical way, while also providing a meaningful pause for self reflection.

I would highly recommend this workshop to those in the mental health field and to anyone interested in reflective and experiential approaches.
