The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) supports efforts to secure the nation’s medicine supply but cautions that global uncertainties remain.

MMA stresses that strategic buffer stocks must prioritise essential medicines, especially for chronic diseases, while improving transparency and strengthening local production capacity.

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) says a case involving house officers highlights serious gaps in administrative safeguards within the healthcare system.

MMA calls for a full, transparent investigation and stronger controls to protect junior doctors.

“Trust in the system must be supported by safeguards, not assumed.”

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) calls for the restoration of the 300-litre monthly fuel subsidy quota for healthcare workers, emphasising that this is not a privilege — but an operational necessity.

Healthcare workers don’t work from home — they show up every day to keep the system running.

Additional financial burdens risk affecting morale, retention, and patient care.

“Supporting our healthcare workers is not a concession — it is a necessary investment in the resilience and stability of our healthcare system.”

We recommend restoring the 300-litre monthly fuel subsidy quota, or implementing a specific exemption, for health care workers who are required to be physically present for duty in MOH. Policies must remain equitable and grounded in operational realities.

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) welcomes the revision of GP consultation fees under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Regulations — a long-overdue step after nearly two decades.

MMA emphasises that strengthening primary care is essential for early detection, continuity of care, and long-term disease management, while ensuring sustainability for the profession.

The revised structure introduces flexibility, allowing fees to reflect clinical complexity — but must be exercised responsibly to maintain affordability for patients.

“Primary care is not the lowest cost component of health care — it is the foundation that prevents higher costs elsewhere.”

Most fish oil supplements talk about strength. But what about purity?
Many fish oil supplements highlight omega-3 strength, but true quality goes beyond just the numbers.
A high-quality fish oil should meet three key pillars:
✔ Fresh – Fish oil begins to oxidize once extracted. Proper processing ensures low oxidation from the start.
✔ Stable – Quality fish oil should remain stable during storage and throughout its shelf life.
✔ Pure – Beyond heavy metals, advanced purification helps remove environmental pollutants such as industrial residues, petroleum-derived pollutants, or oil-soluble pollutants
Choosing a reputable fish oil is important. High-quality fish oil should be fresh, stable, and pure, and these qualities can be supported by transparent laboratory testing.
