✨ A Parent’s Story: Social Buddies ✨

“When my son started school, he struggled to communicate his needs, emotions, and opinions.”

As a paediatrician, Dr Chew knew early support mattered. That’s when his son joined Social Buddies. Through small-group sessions, practical strategies, and guided practice, he began expressing himself more confidently — both in and out of school.

What stood out most?
💛 The low teacher–student ratio
💛 The balance of theory and hands-on learning
💛 Consistent feedback after every session

Today, Dr Chew finds the programme truly beneficial and highly recommends Social Buddies to parents seeking meaningful social skills support for their children.

Letting go of the “New Year, New Me” pressure.

Anxiety isn’t something to get rid of, it’s something to understand. 🌿

It’s the nervous system’s way of protecting us when the body senses threat, even when we’re not consciously aware of it. When we begin to see anxiety as a signal rather than a failure, we open the door to compassion, regulation, and connection, for ourselves and for those we care for.

MHAS, MOTA, MASH members, healthcare professionals, and anyone in a caregiving role are invited to join our workshop “Anxiety & Trauma-Sensitive Care: Support for Practitioners, Parents & Care-Partners” and explore practical, embodied strategies for everyday life. 💛

Every one of us has an accent, whether you realize it or not.

The purpose of accent modification is to help speakers overcome communication barriers caused by their accents. It is not used to eliminate your accent, as it is part of your identity.

If you find that your accent is causing misunderstandings and limiting your ability to communicate freely, it may be beneficial to sign up for accent modification.

Feel free to connect with us for more information.

🌿 Trauma and Sensory Processing 🌿
Complex trauma doesn’t just affect emotions or behavior — it can shape how the brain develops and functions.
Research shows that repeated or overwhelming experiences can impact brain systems responsible for self-regulation and arousal, making it harder to stay calm, focused, and organized.

This is why trauma-informed, body-based support matters. Healing starts with safety, not control.

Join us for a meaningful 1.5-day learning experience where we explore how stress and anxiety shape our nervous system, behaviour, and relationships — not just in children, but in the adults who care for them too.

This workshop is perfect for practitioners, parents, and care-partners seeking practical, trauma-sensitive strategies to stay calm, connected, and regulated, even in challenging moments.

January took us back to school 🏫💙

Our team had the privilege of training teachers at Havil International School (2/1) and Global Indian International School (6/1).
When teachers feel more confident, students feel more understood, and that’s where real inclusion begins ✨
Thank you to both schools for being open, curious, and committed to doing better for every learner.

🌿 Trauma and Sensory Processing 🌿
The impact of Sensory Trauma is significant. Infants may miss out on regulating, growth-promoting parental input. Toxic stress may modify areas of the brain involved in learning and memory and increase our vulnerability to a range of physical and mental health experiences with poorer outcomes.

Is your child’s English pronunciation just an accent, or could it be a speech sound disorder? 🗣️
In multilingual Malaysia, differences in pronunciation are normal — but if speech is hard to understand, inconsistent, or affects learning and confidence, it may need a closer look.
Learn how to tell the difference and when to seek help!

Caregiving stress doesn’t stay contained within one person.

When anxiety and emotional strain go unaddressed, they can shape how we think, feel, and relate, not only to ourselves, but also to the people we care for.

Supporting caregivers is about more than self-care.
It’s about protecting relationships, well-being, and the quality of care itself.

Join us in our upcoming workshop “Anxiety & Trauma-Sensitive Care: Support for Practitioners, Parents & Care-Partners” with Kim Barthel to explore practical, embodied strategies that support sustainable caregiving! 💛
