16 January 2026 – The Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Malaysian Medical Association (SOEM-MMA), paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Director General of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia, En. Husdin bin Che Amat. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the endorsement of SOEM-MMA’s newly developed Occupational Medicine Case Series book, as well as the nationwide dissemination of the Occupational Safety and Health in Schools video developed under the OSH Master Plan (OSHMP) to schools across Malaysia through the Ministry of Education.

The discussion also explored strategic pathways to further strengthen occupational health initiatives in Malaysia through collaborative efforts between DOSH, SOEM-MMA, and other like-minded professional bodies, with the shared objective of safeguarding the safety, health, and wellbeing of the nation’s workforce.

SOEM-MMA extends its sincere appreciation to Dr Ahmad Fitri Abdullah Hair, Director of the Occupational Health Unit, Dr Rajinderjit Singh, and the team for their invaluable support, guidance, and continued collaboration.

📣Success! SOEM CPD Seminar – 17th May 2025📣

We are thrilled to share that the SOEM CPD Seminar held on 17th May 2025 at AC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, was a resounding success! 🎉

A total of 29 enthusiastic participants, including all the way from Brunei joined us for a full-day seminar & tabletop exercise that covered a wide range of vital topics- Disaster Management, Risk Assessment Techniques, Emergency Response Planning, Case Studies, role of various stakeholders, and more.

Participants actively engaged in the tabletop exercise session led by Dr Nabil from Emergency & Trauma Department of Hospital Selayang & Tuan Tc Zulkhairani Ramli from Fire & Rescue Department, contributing insightful perspectives and solutions. The energy and collaboration in the room truly made the session both dynamic and impactful.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone for the overwhelming support and participation in our ‘Building Connections in Occupational Health: A Networking Seminar for Health Professionals’ on 22 February 2025 (Saturday) at St Giles Boulevard!

The workshop was a great success, with 23 dedicated participants staying for the full session. We received encouraging feedback and a strong request to hold a similar session in Johor Bahru for the southern region.

🚨 Unlocking the Secrets to Better Sleep & Workplace Safety! 🚨

On 23rd November 2024, the Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (SOEM, MMA) kicked off the final CPD for 2024 with a power-packed seminar on Sleep Hygiene and Fatigue Management at the AC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Here’s what went down:
💡 The Science of Fatigue: A consultant psychiatrist (Dr Dandaithapani) specializing in Occupational Psychiatry dove deep into the physiology of fatigue.
🏭 Industry Insights: The Custodian Health Advisor from PETRONAS, Dr Nizam Jemoin eye-opening strategies on managing fatigue in high-demand environments.
🚗 Road Safety Matters: MIROS expert, Dr Sharifah Liew revealed the critical link between fatigue and road safety, offering actionable tips to stay alert.
👃 Sleep Apnoea Solutions: Dr Ranveer Singh, a renowned Otorhinolaryngologist in town unpacked the role of ENT in identifying and managing sleep-related disorders.
🛠️ Hands-On Experience: A practical session on Fatigue Risk Assessment by Dr Khairil Idham, one of key experts in the country for Fatigue Management equipped participants with essential tools to tackle fatigue head-on.

The Q&A sessions were buzzing with engaging discussions, problem-solving, and innovative ideas to combat fatigue in the workplace.
