| Board of Studies Meeting MDPH & DrDPH |

The Kulliyyah of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) successfully hosted a two-day Board of Studies (BOS) Meeting on 9–10 February 2026 for the Master in Dental Public Health (MDPH) and Doctor in Dental Public Health (DrDPH) programmes.

It was a great opportunity to bring together our local and international Board of studies members to share ideas, give feedback, and discuss to further strengthen our postgraduate programmes. The discussions covered curriculum development, course content, assessments, and future directions of Dental Public Health Postgraduate Programmes.

Dental Public Health Unit would like to extend sincere appreciation to all Board of studies members for their valuable guidance and continued support towards our academic excellence. Their contributions are truly appreciated and play an important role in shaping the future of our programmes.

| Mouth Cancer Awareness Month (MCAM) 2026 |

February is marked as Mouth Cancer Awareness Month (MCAM), an initiative aimed at raising awareness and emphasizing that early detection of mouth cancer can save lives.

In conjunction with MCAM, the Dental Public Health Unit, Kulliyyah of Dentistry (KOD) took the initiative to set up an oral cancer awareness exhibition booth at KOD to educate and engage the visitors.

Spot the signs, stop mouth cancer

👀 Early signs of oral cancer may include:
🔹 Non-healing mouth ulcers
🔹 Red, white or mixed patches in the mouth
🔹 Lumps, swelling, or thickened areas
🔹 Persistent pain, numbness, or difficulty chewing

The good news? You can check your own mouth at home!

| Community Engagement: Program Ilmu & Jati Diri: Komuniti Cerdas, Pelajar Beraspirasi |

The Dental Public Health Unit, Kulliyyah of Dentistry (KOD), participated in the “Program Ilmu & Jati Diri: Komuniti Cerdas, Pelajar Beraspirasi”, fulfilling an invitation from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) students in collaboration with Batalion 7 Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA) Kuantan. The programme focused on delivering oral health education to primary students of Sekolah Agama Rakyat KAFA Al-Muhammadiah.

This meaningful outreach aimed to foster better oral health awareness through engaging educational activities.

We are pleased to highlight the involvement of four Year 4 students from KOD, who conducted effective toothbrushing instruction sessions, guiding the young students on proper oral hygiene techniques. Their contribution played an important role in ensuring the programme’s success.

Sincere appreciation to UUM, PGA Kuantan, and the school community for their cooperation and warm welcome. Together, we continue our mission to nurture healthier smiles and strengthen community relationships.

| Meeting on Strengthening Postgraduate Dental Public Health Programs |

The Department of Dental Public Health, Kulliyyah of Dentistry (KOD), held a productive meeting with representatives from the Department of Community Medicine, Kulliyyah of Medicine (COMMED) to discuss curriculum alignment and academic collaboration for the MDPH and DrDPH programmes.

This collaboration marks an important step towards strengthening interdisciplinary learning and enhancing the quality of our postgraduate dental public health programmes.

Along with that, we had a really insightful and productive meeting with Prof. Dr. Zamros Yuzadi Bin Mohd Yusof, Dental Public Health Specialist from University of Malaya, focusing on refining and aligning the Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) in accordance with the program standards for dental specialty training.

Special thanks to Prof. Dr. Zamros Yuzadi and representatives from COMMED for their valuable insights and continuous support in strengthening our academic direction.

| Briefing on Usrah In Action for 4th and 5th Year Students |

The Kulliyyah of Dentistry is pleased to welcome officers from the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, led by Prof. Zainal Abidin Bin Sanusi, for the Briefing on Usrah In Action (UIA) with 4th and 5th year students.

Usrah In Action (UIA) is an initiative aimed at translating Islamic values and principles into meaningful community engagement. It provides a platform for students to embody the spirit of ukhuwah, leadership, and social responsibility through active participation in community-based projects.

As our 5th year students prepare to embark on their Community Project in January 2026, we extend our best wishes for the smooth and successful ex*****on of the programme.
