*MMA Bintulu Subcommittee Exco Meeting*
Venue : Aurora Café, Imperial Hotel, Bintulu | 26th October 2025 @ 1700H

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Bintulu Subcommittee held its Exco meeting today at Aurora Café, Imperial Hotel, Bintulu , chaired by Dr Parthevan Rajasingam. The session focused on planning and coordination of upcoming activities from October to December 2025.

The first agenda discussed was the E-Invoice for Healthcare Programme, scheduled for 1st November 2025, marking the first event of its kind in Sarawak. Preparations for the Annual Dinner, which will conclude the year on a celebratory note, were also deliberated.

In addition, preliminary discussions were made on the 2026 program lineup, with Exco members tasked to prepare work papers for review before proceeding with implementation.

The meeting also underscored MMA Bintulu Subcommittee ’s ongoing mission to bridge the gap between the public and the medical fraternity, while enhancing continuous medical education and learning opportunities for doctors to stay updated in patient care and clinical practice.

The session concluded with the distribution of the new corporate shirts and a group photo session, wrapping up the meeting at 1915H.

On 25.10.2025, MMA Sarawak had a Blood Donation Drive and a membership drive.
MMA Sarawak is very grateful to the 30 people donated their blood (including 1 of our very own MMA Sarawak Exco member Dr Joshua Taylor).
MMA Sarawak is also grateful to Dr Wong Yi Shen (Head of Department of Transfusion Services and Blood Bank for Sarawak) and team for collaborating with MMA Sarawak for this Blood Donation Drive.

The Sibu MMA Subcommittee, together with the Sibu Society of Private Medical Practitioners, proudly co-organised the Doctor’s Day 2025 Appreciation Dinner at Kingwood Hotel, Sibu, on 12th October 2025.

We were deeply honoured to have YB Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, and YB Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, as our distinguished Guests of Honour for the evening.

A special highlight of the night was the presentation of the Excellent Service Awards to Dr Teh Jo Hun, Sibu District Health Officer, and his team, as well as Dr Nanthakumar, Director of Hospital Sibu, and his team. The awards were a heartfelt tribute to their unwavering dedication and tireless service to the people of Sibu, especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The dinner was a wonderful occasion for both government and private doctors to come together — to reconnect, share laughter, and celebrate the spirit of unity and friendship within our medical fraternity.

Our sincere appreciation goes to Dr Betty Kong, Organising Chairperson, and her hardworking team for putting together such a warm, memorable, and meaningful evening to honour all the devoted doctors who continue to serve with compassion and commitment.

National Doctors’ Day 2025
MMA Sarawak Brings Cheer to Patients at Sarawak General Hospital

To commemorate National Doctors’ Day 2025 on 10th October, the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Sarawak Branch organised a patient visitation to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Male Oncology Ward, Female Oncology Ward and Palliative Care Ward.
As part of this meaningful initiative, goody bags were distributed to patients as tokens of encouragement to lift their spirits.
The event was graced by Dr. Ngian Hie Ung, Director of SGH, accompanied by Dr. Lau Bik Liang (MMA Sarawak Vice-Chairman), representing Dr. Ong Eng-Joe (MMA Sarawak Chairman), Dr. Tan Shong Sheng (MMA SCHOMOS Sarawak Representative) and Dr Sharon Choo (Head of Palliative Care, Sarawak) in distributing the goody bags to the patients.
MMA Sarawak extends its heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ngian Hie Ung, Director of SGH, for supporting this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and for personally joining the visitation.
The success of this meaningful event was made possible through the dedication and support of Dr. Tan Shong Sheng, the event organiser, together with the MMA Sarawak Executive Committee Members, caring doctors, medical staffs and the MMA Sarawak Secretariat, whose collective efforts are sincerely appreciated for making the event a truly memorable and heartwarming occasion.

Happy Malaysia Day from MMA Sarawak!

It is another unprecedented year for MMA Sarawak at the Annual Banquet National MMA Awards on 13th September 2025 during the National MMA AGM where the 3 nominees by MMA Sarawak for the National MMA Awards were selected by the 2024-2025 National MMA Exco and MMA Council.

Congratulations to Sarawak Deputy Premier YB Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian who was awarded the National MMA Gold Medal!

Congratulations to Dr. (Mr.) Albert Wong who was awarded the National MMA Outstanding Public & Healthcare Services Award!

It was another memorable night of fun and games, meeting new friends and renewing old friendships at the MMA Sarawak-SPMPS Doctors Family Night on the 6th of September 2025 at the Hornbill Restaurant of the Sarawak Club. Around 100 over people turned up.

Many thanks to Dr Joshua Taylor.(MMA Sarawak Committee Member) for being the Master of Ceremony and also the MMA Sarawak Secretariat for helping organise the event.

I hope that doctors will join the planned MMA Sarawak Annual Dinner on 13th December 2025 at the Imperial Hotel, Kuching too.
