Last week, our Consultant Ophthalmologist and Medical Director 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴 chaired the 𝗕𝗢𝗦𝗦 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 at the 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗢𝗽𝗵𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 in Brunei Darussalam (Nov 6–8).

As session chair, Dr. Kong led engaging discussions featuring innovative cataract surgery techniques from across the region — and also shared his own insights on “𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀”, a complex condition requiring skill, precision, and experience.

👁💙 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝘆𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 — and the numbers in Malaysia are alarming.

According to the Dr. Barometer Malaysia Report, 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟯 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 living with diabetes may develop diabetic eye disease, yet most are unaware until their vision starts to fade.

😔 Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Macular Edema often show 𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 — by the time symptoms appear, damage may already be done.
