The food pyramid hasn’t really flipped, our thinking has 🧠✨
You may have seen the “upside-down food pyramid” circulating recently. It doesn’t mean we stop eating rice, avoid carbohydrates, or load up on protein and fats.
👉 What this visual really shows is food PRIORITY, not portion size ⚖️
What does that mean in real life?
🥦🍎 Vegetables and fruits should appear more often on our plates.
🍗 Protein should be included regularly to support muscle, fullness, and metabolism.
🍚 Carbohydrates are still part of a balanced diet, just in appropriate portions!
🥗 Food quality matters more than extremes, and less ultra-processed food, more real food.
This is not a one-size-fits-all approach 👥
Needs differ for the elderly, people with kidney disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and different activity levels.
Instead of focusing on what to cut, focus on balance and sustainability 🌱
That’s how healthy habits last!
Modern nutrition focuses on food quality, adequate protein, fibre-rich vegetables, and reducing ultra-processed foods while keeping carbohydrates as part of a balanced, individualised diet 💛
