Mr Tan Kien Hooi graduated from the School of Management at Universiti Sains Malaysia and later transitioned into the field of education. He once worked as a tutor at an orphanage, helping children with slow learning progress.
In 2005, he obtained a Masterโs degree in Special Education from Macquarie University in Australia and joined the BOLD Association for Children with Special Needs in Penang, where he designed various language teaching materials and training teaching teams.
Since 2007, he has been giving talks and trainings at primary schools, kindergartens, and learning centers on supporting children with reading difficulties. To this day, he is still actively giving hands-on workshops and online talks for various organisations, all related to helping children with reading difficulties.
Moreover since 2015, he has focused on Chinese remedial teaching, using multi-sensory strategies and cognitive methods to help children with word recognition, comprehension, and writing. He has published several sets of Chinese teaching materials, all related helping children with reading difficulties.
