Meet Our ESpeechCare Team!

We are a passionate and dedicated team of therapists, including speech-language therapists and a neurodevelopmental therapist. We work together to support individuals and families with diverse cultural and linguistic background across a wide range of developmental, behavioural, and communication challenges.

At ESpeechCare, we believe in supporting the whole person, not just the diagnosis. Our therapy services are personalised and include:

• Speech and language delays and disorders in young children
• Speech sound disorders (e.g., pronunciation difficulties)
• Pragmatic language difficulties (e.g., social communication disorder)
• Stuttering or stammering
• Voice disorders
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) (e.g., for non-verbal individuals)

Face the Fear Workshop (29 & 30 June) : An eye-opening workshop with the guru herself , Moira Dempsey (educational and developmental kinesiologist and founder of Rhythmic Movement Training International), with participants from Indonesia, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Kuching, where we delved deeper in a journey to discover ourselves and the individuals we work with to better understand how we can help each other and their families.

A very special workshop indeed with light bulb moments until we forgot to take many pictures 😉

As therapists, we sometimes get asked by parents / caregivers about whether supplements or oral motor exercises help children to talk.

First of all, we believe that supplements approved by the Ministry of Health can keep our children healthy and well, hence, less skipping school or therapy BUT it does not mean your child will suddenly begin to talk.

Secondly, practising oral motor exercises (i.e, smiling, licking, sticking out tongue, blowing etc) on its own without any speech or conversational contexts will NOT develop speech directly. Most children who have speech delays （without underlying conditions such as cerebral palsy or Down’s Syndrome) DO NOT have muscle weakness. Talking requires more than just moving or exercising the oral structures.

Day 3 RMTi Level 2 (Emotions, Memory & Behaviour): The journey doesn’t end with our final day … with all the learning and sharing we gained, we continue to discover ourselves and are inspired to explore new things with the people around us. Best of all, old friendships are reinforced , new friendships formed and priceless connections are made!

Day 2: Positive energy and vibes continue to flow today! A lot of us have epiphany or lightbulb moments where pieces of puzzles start to fall into place as we relate to our own personal or professional experiences.
