LAHAD DATU AERODROME EMERGENCY EXERCISE 2023

On 13th and 14th September 2023, Lahad Datu Aerodrome Emergency Exercise was held to test our preparedness in the event of airport disaster.

Among the agencies involved are :

POLIS DIRAJA MALAYSIA (PDRM)
JABATAN BOMBA DAN PENYELAMAT MALAYSIA (JBPM)
KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA (KKM)
AIRPORT FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES (AFRS)
ANGKATAN PERTAHANAN AWAM MALAYSIA (APM)
AVIATION SECURITY (AVSEC)
MALAYSIA AIRPORTS HOLDINGS BERHAD (MAHB)
CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY OF MALAYSIA (CAAM)
JABATAN IMIGRESEN MALAYSIA (JIM)
JABATAN KASTAM DIRAJA MALAYSIA (KDRM)
MASWINGS

The exercise kickoff with a tabletop session on 13th September 2023 involving all agencies at Hospital Lahad Datu for an eagle eye perspective of airport disaster management.

The discussion proved fruitful as multi agencies came forward and share their SOP, thus providing a solid framework for mutual cooperation in the event of possible disasters.

On the following day (14th September 2023), a full scale exercise was held at Lahad Datu Airport. Dressed in full gear with full manpower, all agencies remained enthusiastic despite the slight drizzle throughout the exercise.

As a representative of Health Ministry, Emergency and Trauma Department Hospital Lahad Datu sent our full force to take part in the exercise. From the activation of in hospital disaster alert to establishment of medical base at disaster site, we succeeded in prompt treatment and efficient transportation of all ‘victims’ in an organized and timely manner.

Well done to all EP, MO, MA, SN, PPK, PKB involved in the exercise. Such training is key in maintaining our response efficiency and teamwork cohesion amidst the chaos, vital in our responsibility to ensure the best outcome in the event of misfortune.

Congratulations to all agencies involved for their commitment and successful completion of Aerodrome Emergency Exercise. We look forward to synergistic multi-agency cooperation in serving the rakyats of Lahad Datu !

"In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn"

Congratulations to our PPWs (Program Penempatan Wajib Pegawai Penolong Perubatan (PPP)) for completing their Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) held by Emergency and Trauma Department Hospital Lahad Datu on 16th and 17th August 2023.

The course kicks off with a series of lectures, followed by skill stations and moulage training. With ED being on the frontline in accidents and disasters, our participants gained crucial knowledge in managing airway, breathing, and circulation, besides refreshing their skills in PHC communication and immobilization techniques.

Their knowledge are further tested in theory and moulage exams on the following day and we are proud of the effort they put in to obtain their certification !

A shoutout to our Emergency Physicians, Chiefs and our organizing committee and thank you for their commitment in training the next batch of PPPs !

Remember,

"With great knowledge comes great responsibility"

We humbly hope our participants gained a lot and will use the knowledge and skills to serve humanity and teach others in the future :)

On 11th February 2023, Emergency and Trauma Department Hospital Lahad Datu held a Grand dinner with the theme ”Denim & Diamonds”

Away from the usual red, yellow and green zones, we donned blue in accordance to the theme and let our hair down for a night. Kudos to the organizing committee for a rare moment of fun amidst our busy schedule !

Love is rare, grab it.
Anger is bad, dump it.
Fear is awful, face it.
Memories are sweet, cherish it.”

And back to work we go 😆
