World Cancer Day falls on 4th Feb every year.Its this special day that cancer survivors , cancer carers and providers embrace , celebrate and brave on with their present condition , never ever giving up hope and care.

We are blessed in this century that cancer care has improved so much , in so many ways.Improved chemotherapy armaments , radiotherapy treatment with minimal side effects, novel targeted therapy approaches and various new drugs to minimise treatment side effects and new palliative care approaches .What we all need , is a BIG change of mindset.And this comes with the " I am , I Will " caption for world cancer day celebration.

We need to embrace changes , in order to evolve and to improve cancer care.Some may disagree but the backward mentality of " ubat kampung " or traditional hebs or remedies as a a short cut or prefered choice should never be advocated by patients or family or opportunist sellers.

Covid 19 have hit us hard , in so many ways.Some have died , some almost died , and some are directly and indirectly affected by Covid 19 infection.This is a universal challenge .But we should not make this any harder , particularly to cancer patients and carers by imposing such unfounded , unproven and damaging ways of alternative therapy.

The challenge is in the mind and the behaviour.For Muslims, the Quran clearly advise us to seek guidance and ask from those who are the experts and the know how.Rather than taking the onus on oneself or inflicting damage to others by giving unsubstantiated advises or treatments.

Surah 16 AL-NAḤL ( النحل ) verse 16

وَما أَرسَلنا مِن قَبلِكَ إِلّا رِجالًا نوحي إِلَيهِم ۚ فَاسأَلوا أَهلَ الذِّكرِ إِن كُنتُم لا تَعلَمونَ

TRANSLATION
We did not send [any apostles] before you except as men to whom We revealed —ask the People of the Reminder if you do not know—

Surah 21 AL-ANBIYĀʾ ( الأنبياء ) verse 7

وَما أَرسَلنا قَبلَكَ إِلّا رِجالًا نوحي إِلَيهِم ۖ فَاسأَلوا أَهلَ الذِّكرِ إِن كُنتُم لا تَعلَمونَ

TRANSLATION
We did not send [any apostles] before you except as men, to whom We revealed. Ask the People of the Reminder1 if you do not know.

For those who have fought till the end and have since departed, you are a warrior in the true sense.Never giving up and giving hope to others , we cherish you in our hearts and deeds and pray that you bestowed with greatness and love in the after life ,insyallah.To our patients who have passed on , our prayers are with you always.To our present cancer patients , keep strong and keep fighting .

Clinic Dr Badrul's Gynaeoncology team recently made a home visit to one of our dear patients home , as part of our corporate social responsibility and universal care approach.

The struggles ,trials and tribulations of cancer patients are very real indeed .We can never be the better judge of what they go through , in fact we should never judge at all.Real life matters , lost life partners and loved ones , financial issues and day to day living are just as important to them

Sometimes , all they want and need is just a wee bit of our time to listen , share their inner feelings , insights , worries and and joy and let people treat them as any other human being .

Without the huge disheartening and dreaded label of the big C, Cancer .
We recognise this , and we hope by having made such visits we can actually add some joy and beautiful moments to all our patients.
We wish every one a very happy new year 2021.

Clinic Dr Badrul would like wish our sincere thanks and wishes to our patients who have entrusted their health care and wellbeing with us.
We take on that responsibility with pride and strive to provide our patients optimal care medically , physically, mentally and spiritually.Of course , its always a team effort from the everyone , drs, nurses, OT team , physiotherapists, dieticians and all of Regency staff.

Clinic Dr Badrul always welcomes sharing and promoting knowledge and cancer care. Recently Clinic Dr Badrul was involved in a Zoom Talk discussion for Drs in Primary Care or General Practitioners. The topic on HPV vaccination was strongly welcomed by 71 participants nationwide.

We hope by having this discussion session would better equip our good doctors in todays society.
