A day dedicated to all things skin! 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️

Held on 1 November 2025 at Grand Swiss Belhotel, Melaka, the Melaka Primary Dermatology Update 2025 brought together over 100 participants for a full-day CME session filled with expert insights, practical pearls, and engaging discussions.

Organised by MMA Melaka Branch in collaboration with the Department of Dermatology, Hospital Melaka, the programme featured 8 distinguished speakers, who shared updates on key dermatological topics such as atopic dermatitis, urticaria, alopecia areata, and pruritus.

The event wrapped up with lively Q&A sessions, networking over coffee, and strong support from our sponsors — all contributing to a successful day of learning, connection, and continuous professional growth. 💙

🩵 Workplace Bullying and The Law 🩵

Hosted by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Melaka Branch in collaboration with the Junior Doctors Network (JDN) Malaysia, our recent webinar tackled one of the most pressing issues in healthcare today — workplace bullying.

We were honoured to be joined by:
⚖️ Ms. Raja Eileen Soraya Raja Aman, Senior Partner at Messrs. Raja, Darryl & Loh, who shared valuable insights on the legal framework and protections available to healthcare professionals.
🩺 Dr. Gayathri K. Kumarasuriar, Consultant Psychiatrist and passionate advocate for doctor welfare and safe workplaces, who provided the clinical and organisational perspective on tackling toxic work environments.

With over 200 attendees nationwide, the session highlighted the urgent need for awareness, empathy, and systemic support to foster healthier, more respectful workplaces across Malaysia’s healthcare sector.

Together, let’s continue the conversation — because every voice deserves to be heard, and every workplace deserves respect. 💙

We successfully wrapped up our Mobile Clinic session in collaboration with the MMA Melaka Branch, held in conjunction with the Melaka State Health Carnival at SK Taman Merdeka! 🏫💙

Over 150 attendees joined us for free health screenings — a wonderful turnout that reflects the community’s commitment to better health and preventive care.

👏 Congratulations to St. John Ambulance Malaysia Melaka for organising a smooth and impactful event. We look forward to future collaborations in bringing Mobile Clinics and healthcare services closer to the community together with MMA Melaka Branch.

It was also an honour to have YB Khoo Poay Tiong, Member of Parliament for Kota Melaka, grace the event and show his support for community health initiatives.

🩵 World Diabetes Day 2025 @ MUCM 🩵

In conjunction with World Diabetes Day (16 October 2025), MMA Melaka Branch joined forces with the Endocrine Medical Team of Hospital Melaka for an awareness event held at Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM).

The event brought together around 100 participants, including doctors and healthcare staff, for an informative and interactive session on diabetes care and prevention.

Our team also set up an MMA booth to share more about the Association’s advocacy and initiatives — and we’re thrilled to have conducted a successful membership drive throughout the day! 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️

MMA Melaka at MUCM MBBS Batch 57 Orientation

On 16th October 2025, the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Melaka Branch, represented by Dr Jothinathan, had the privilege of giving a talk to the new MBBS Batch 57 students of Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM).

The session focused on introducing SMMAMS (Students’ Malaysian Medical Association) — the student arm of MMA — and providing an overview of the Association’s mission, structure, and ongoing efforts to advocate for doctors and medical students nationwide.

It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the next generation of doctors and share how early involvement with MMA can help shape their professional growth, leadership, and sense of community.

We’re especially excited about the upcoming RM20 one-time student membership, which will make it even easier for students to connect with MMA’s network and opportunities.

For Dr Jothi, our Vice Chairman, it was a surreal and deeply meaningful moment — to return to Manipal, where his own medical journey began, and to now speak to the students walking the same halls that once shaped his path. 💙

Bullying has no place in healing spaces.

It doesn’t always look like shouting — sometimes it’s exclusion, humiliation, or quiet cruelty.

With the Penal Code (Amendment) Act 2025 now making workplace bullying a criminal offence in Malaysia, the message is clear:
No one should suffer in silence.

Victims now have legal avenues for justice — they can lodge police reports, seek protection under the law, and have their experiences recognised as offences punishable by law.

But change doesn’t start with punishment alone — it starts with awareness, compassion, and the courage to speak up.

On 10 October 2025, representatives from MMA Melaka Branch attended an engagement session organised by the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Hospital Melaka.

🪔✨ Spreading Light, Sharing Hope ✨🪔
In conjunction with Deepavali, MMA Melaka Branch reached out to families in need across the community through a CSR initiative aimed at easing festive burdens and bringing light to homes that need it most.
With the kind assistance of local community members, we identified several needy families and provided them with essential household supplies — including rice, cooking oil, grains, and other daily necessities — to help them celebrate the Festival of Lights with warmth and dignity.
This initiative reminds us that the true spirit of Deepavali shines brightest when we uplift one another.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, volunteered, and shared kindness this season. 💙
