📌Purpura refers to purple spots or patches on the skin or mucous membranes caused by blood leaking from small vessels, appearing as bruises or blood spots, and can range from tiny petechiae to larger ecchymoses. Causes vary, including low platelets (thrombocytopenia), vascular issues, certain medications, vitamin deficiencies, or infections, and may signal a more serious condition like clotting disorders or severe sepsis (purpura fulminans).

🩺Our consultant, Ms. Sim, will examined the skin condition very quickly, she recognized the condition: Purpura.
🩺She has explained that Purpura can appear on the arms, legs, and behind the knees and elbows. It often presents as:
• Reddish-purple on lighter skin, brownish-black on darker skin.
• Small dots (petechiae), medium patches (purpura), or large bruises (ecchymoses).

🥲Miss Patt first visited our pharmacy to bring her daughter as she feeling frustrated and worry her daughter skin condition. The skin on her hands, neck, body was red, wound, and painfully itchy—clear signs of eczema. Every day her daughter keep scratching due to the itchiness.

🥺One day, a concerned parent’s make an appointment with our pharmacy to get treatment for they 3 years old daughter. They were seeking help for her skin, which had become visibly inflamed since birth . Her feet areas was fluid-filled blisters, redness, dry, irritated and have lichenification make her parent worry.

🥲They explained that she feel itchy and keep scratching. They only give her the antihistamine. Because her discomfort, more restless and uncomfortable throughout the assessment but still she is very active playing running around the consultation room and very talkative.

😞When our consultant, Ms. Sim, examined the skin, she quickly identified the condition as Eczema— a common, chronic skin condition in toddler. We explained to the parents that this condition often affects areas of the body such as the finger, palm and feet’s. It’s redness, itching, blisters which can make her fussy or disturb sleep, oozing or crusting if the skin becomes infected from scratching.

📌During the consultation, we took the time to educate the parents on:

• How to care skin daily
• What to do during flare-ups
• What to avoid to prevent irritation

🥲One afternoon, a family walked into our pharmacy hoping to make an appointment for their young daughter. She stayed close to her parents, quiet and visibly shy. At first glance, it was clear that something was troubling naturally her parents were deeply worried.
