The history of flower tea could be traced to the Ancient Egyptian era. In those days, when medical science was less advanced, the Egyptians made use of flower incense to cure diseases; Flowers and herbs were necessities in the lives of the Egyptians.
Later, as the Ancient Egyptians went on to conquer other parts of the world, they would bring along some flower seeds and plant them along the way. When faced with the onslaught of epidemics, the flowers and herbs were brewed and consumed to prevent the spread of diseases.
During the times of Ancient Greece, one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine, Hippocrates assayed the oft-used flowers and herbs and attempted to produce them into medicines.
In 1597, the flowers and herbs that were common along the Mediterranean shores were introduced into England by an Englishman named John Chenro. Through experimenting with the flowers, John came up with detailed description of their properties and uses. These descriptions were published in his work, Brief History of Herbs.
