Psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy are not opposites. They are different ways of working with the same goal: helping people understand themselves and change patterns that no longer serve them.

Psychotherapy focuses on insight, reflection, and the therapeutic relationship. It helps people explore thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences over time, building understanding and resilience.

Clinical hypnotherapy works more directly on the goal you wish to achieve – feeling happier, better, stronger, or breaking the unwanted habit. It uses attention, awareness, and the nervous system and can help shift habitual responses, such as anxiety, stress reactions, or unwanted behaviours, often without needing to analyse everything in detail.

This is one of the most common things people say before starting therapy, and it’s completely okay.

You don’t need the right words, a clear story, or a neat explanation. Often, what brings people to therapy is a feeling: something feels off, heavy, overwhelming, or no longer manageable.

Therapy is a place where understanding can emerge before words do. Together, things can be explored gently, at your pace, until what’s been hard to name begins to make sense.

Not knowing how to explain what’s wrong is often the starting point — not a problem.

Start with how you feel, not just credentials. A good therapist should help you feel safe, respected, and listened to — not rushed, judged, or pressured.

Look for someone who is properly trained, works within clear ethical boundaries, and is open about how they work. They should welcome questions and be prepared to discuss the process and what you can expect.

Therapy isn’t about finding the “perfect” therapist. It’s about finding someone you can work with collaboratively - think with, feel alongside, and trust enough to be honest.

If it feels right, that matters.

At the LSCCH Therapy Centre all our therapists will do their best to answer your questions and work with you to find the right solution for your situation.

One of the most common worries about therapy is the fear of having to revisit distressing memories in detail.

Modern trauma-informed therapy doesn’t work that way. Instead, the focus is on regulation, safety, and choice — helping the nervous system settle, building a sense of stability, and supporting change without forcing recall or emotional overwhelm.

Healing isn’t about going back into pain. It’s about helping the body and mind feel safer in the present, so the past no longer has the same hold.

He began therapy during a difficult period, when support felt scarce and trust was hard to find.

Over time, the sessions became something he relied on deeply. He looked forward to them, spoke often about how safe he felt, and gradually began to ask for more contact outside the agreed therapeutic space. He shared details about his life in a way that blurred into seeking reassurance, connection, and certainty.

The therapist noticed the shift. Not as a problem — but as an important signal.

Rather than encouraging closeness or pulling away abruptly, the therapist gently named what was happening in the room. Together, they explored why the sense of dependency had formed, what needs it was pointing to, and how those needs could be supported without crossing professional boundaries. The therapist also took the work to clinical supervision, a reflection session designed to ensure clients receive the best care and choices.

As the boundaries became clearer, something unexpected happened. The client didn’t feel rejected — he felt steadier. The therapy became less about holding on, and more about building strength, confidence, and support beyond the room.

Ethical therapy doesn’t avoid closeness — it holds it carefully.

At LSCCH Therapy Centre, therapists work within clear ethical standards and regular supervision, so even subtle challenges like dependency or over-disclosure are handled with care, respect, and integrity.

Because life has a way of piling up — stress, pressure, unspoken worries, things we’ve learned to live with but never really processed.

Therapy matters because it offers a safe, professional space to slow down, make sense of what’s going on, and feel less alone with it. Not to fix or label, but to understand.

When people feel heard and supported, they’re often better able to face life with more clarity, steadiness, and choice. And that’s why therapy continues to matter.

Many therapists are naturally curious about people and interested in how we cope, connect, and make sense of our lives. They tend to be good listeners, comfortable with complexity, good problem solvers and able to sit with difficult emotions without rushing to fix them.

Some come to this type of work through personal experience, others through study — but what they often share is patience, reflection, and respect for boundaries. Being a therapist isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being willing to keep learning, alongside others. And to always keep the client at the heart of the process.

She came to therapy because she felt constantly torn — anxious, unsettled, unable to decide what the “right” thing was anymore.

As the sessions unfolded, it became clear that her distress wasn’t just internal. It involved another person in her life, blurred boundaries, and a situation where she was looking to the therapist for reassurance about what she should do.

This was the quiet ethical moment.

Rather than offering advice or stepping into decision-making, the therapist slowed the work down. Together, they focused on helping her understand her own feelings, values, and limits. Behind the scenes, the therapist took the case to supervision — reflecting carefully to ensure the work stayed supportive without becoming directive or over-involved.

Over time, the anxiety eased. Not because someone told her what to do, but because she felt clearer, steadier, and more confident in making her own choices.

Ethical dilemmas in therapy are rarely dramatic. They are resolved through care, reflection, supervision, and a commitment to protecting the client’s autonomy.

At LSCCH Therapy Centre, therapists work within clear ethical standards designed to keep therapy safe, respectful, and focused on your wellbeing.

Therapists at LSCCH Therapy Centre are professionally trained in psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy, and their work doesn’t stop at qualification.

Ongoing supervision — often conducted virtually — gives therapists a confidential space to reflect, think through complex situations, and stay grounded in ethical, client-centred practice. Working to recognised global standards helps ensure consistency, care, and accountability, no matter where clients or therapists are based.

For clients, this means therapy that is supported, considered, and held within a wider framework designed to keep the work safe and effective.

If you’re supporting someone you care about, it’s normal to feel unsure how to help. Therapy offers a neutral, professional space where they don’t have to protect others from their feelings.

At LSCCH Therapy Centre, therapists are selected not only for their training in psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy, but for the way they work with people.

Kindness and non-judgement create safety — which is essential when someone is feeling vulnerable. Ethical practice and clear boundaries build trust. Careful listening allows the therapy to follow your needs, rather than a fixed formula. And quiet determination helps therapists stay alongside clients through difficulty, without rushing or forcing change.

These qualities matter because meaningful therapy doesn’t come from technique alone. It comes from a relationship where you feel respected, understood, and supported as you find your own way forward.

When those foundations are in place, therapy becomes a space where real change can happen — steadily, safely, and at your pace.

There is profound value in moments when life becomes quiet. During these periods of reflection, the unconscious mind is most receptive to positive change. While the conscious mind is busy with daily tasks, it often blocks the insights required for transformation. Clinical hypnotherapy utilises this natural stillness to bypass conscious resistance.

This allows a practitioner to work directly with the patterns governing behaviour. Embracing the pause creates the perfect environment for the mind to recalibrate.
