Syawal is a time for celebration. It marks the end of fasting in the month of Ramadan.

It is not just about good food, new clothes and celebrations, but also an opportunity to practice the discipline and good deeds done in Ramadan.

Filial piety is not just about balik kampung and uttering maaf zahir batin.

Parents give up their world to raise children and never expect anything in return.

However children can choose to take happy pictures on their holidays, not even bothering to check whether their parents have eaten, are recovering from their illness or enduring the festive season on their own in hospital. Days can go by without a single phone call and the children do not even bother to inform of their return. Just like any others they visit when they want at their convenience. And the parents will never hold a grudge.

Why? Because parents are parents. They are built with hearts of gold when it comes to their offsprings. No matter how jarring the neglect is, they still welcome their children with open arms unconditionally. As the adage goes “one parent can look after ten children, but ten children cannot look after one parent”.

I have not seen her mother for quite some time so she spilled the beans on what her daughter has and has not been doing during this time. So daughter got a double lecture from her mother and myself so that everyone is happy 😝🤣🤣🤣🥰❤️😍❤️❤️❤️

The diagnosis of cancer itself does not necessarily render one disabled or incapable of working.

There are however many manifestations of the diagnosis. How one is affected differs on the sites and extent of the disease involved, how one adapts to it, and how one faces the disruptions and consequences.

It also depends on the type of job. Many who are self employed simply have little option to take time off and will plough on no matter what. Wheras there are those whose passion for their jobs recognise that this is what keeps them going.

Some want to continue working and can do so however have been deemed unfit by their employers just because of the diagnosis. They are told to rest or quit despite being perfectly healthy, maybe out of good intention but certainly misjudged.

Some are fit to work however are taking unnecessary prolonged absences not realising the excess time dwelling on negative thoughts and emotions can negatively impact on their outlook in life and recovery.

Everyone is unique in their circumstances. It is not just the cancer. The diagnosis provides an opportunity to reflect on priorities, boundaries of ethics, purpose in life and reevaluation of one’s current affairs. Not everyone has the luxury to do what they want and not everyone wants to conform.

I spent the first day of 2026 doing what I love- food hunting 😆

2025 was rocky-filled with many firsts including a police station visit 😅, challenges and tests of patience especially when both my right hand women were dealt with their own struggles.

Despite that, there were many good opportunities for personal growth and time for reflection on who and what matters most in my life. Priorities were more obvious than ever. And for that I am most grateful for 2025.

And here we are today having survived 2025!

A very happy New Year to everyone!
Let us hope for more kindness, peace, strength, happiness, joy, gratitude, love and good health in 2026! 🥳💪😍❤️🥰❤️❤️❤️

Such a joy to see this happy family during this festive season 🥰❤️😍❤️❤️❤️

I am absolutely elated to learn that this spriteful lady is breathing better and can walk farther without limitations since starting treatment a month ago. Here’s hoping for ongoing improvement and speedy recovery for her to be back to her normal self, if not healthier the next time we meet 💪💪💪🥰❤️😍❤️❤️❤️
