📍 Day 5: Suzhou

Another day away from the city and first time taking the high speed railway (HSR) in China.

Whole day trip out in Suzhou. Visited the popular attractions: Humble Administrator’s Garden and Lingering Garden.

Walked and ate at Pingjiang Road and Shantang Street.

📍 Day 4: Shanghai

Back in Shanghai downtown to explore the Yu Garden in the city.

Then went to the French Concession area. Joined the huge crowd to take photo of this popular building. So many people from across the streets snapping away and posing in front of the Wukang Mansion.

Instead of going up to the observation deck of the Shanghai tower. Visited the Duoyun Bookstore on the 52nd floor of the Shanghai Tower to get a good glimpse of Shanghai at night from above.

Finally, visited the popular Starbucks Reserve Roastery Shanghai.

📍 Day 3: Zhujiajiao

Just slightly under 2 hours metro ride from Shanghai downtown is Zhujiajiao Ancient Town.

Spent a good half day exploring this ancient town away from the city.

Took a short boat ride in the canals.

Stayed till dark to see the restaurants along waters light up the night and reflect on the waters.

On the way back, visited the 1000 Trees. It has The Gardens mall and TRX The Exchange Mall vibes.

📍 Day 2: Shanghai

Instead of viewing Shanghai from above at either Shanghai Tower / Shanghai World Financial Centre / Jinmao Tower / Oriental Pearl Tower. Visited the latest observation deck in Shanghai - The Stage at Sinar Mas Plaza. Got a good view of the Pudong river, Lujiazui, and Shanghai.

Walked along the North Bund Garden to see the Oriental Pearl Tower during the day.

Skipped the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel and hopped on the Huangpu River Cruise during the night. Got a beautiful view of both the Bund and Lujiazui on the cruise. See the office buildings, towers, and hotels light up the night sky.

Walked along the busy Bund in the cool autumn night.

Walked into more traffic at East and West Nanjing Street. Shanghai’s shopping district. The amount of people! 😱

🛫 Many firsts. Flew China Eastern Airlines to Shanghai Pudong Airport and then took the Maglev train to the city.

Full-fledged meal served on board the flight.

There were many transport options to the city. Took the Maglev, a magnetic train going at 190kmph.

Beautiful view of 1000 Trees building from hotel.
