Energy drinks are NOT sports drinks, and they shouldnât be confused. Sports drinks are meant to replace electrolytes lost during training, but energy drinks donât usually do this. In fact, drinking energy drinks before or during physical activity can cause muscle cramps, increased heart rate, vomiting and increase the risk of dehydrationđŽ
Energy drinks tend to contain legal stimulants such as guarana, taurine, and L-carnitine -> ingredients to watch out for.
Some negative effects of these stimulants include increased blood pressure, sleep disturbances, headaches and stomach aches.
Some of the ingredients in energy drinks can even make certain medication less effective, such as ADHD medication.
And yes, energy drinks are certainly NOT recommended for children.
