Happy World Physio Day.

As many of you know, I love my job because I get to help people. That has always and will always be the heart of why I do what I do. 💕
Thank YOU my dear clients for being a blessing to me and trusting me with your body, with your clients and with your loved ones! ☺️🥹

My First 10km race.
From barely hitting below 12min/km for 5kms and barely making 200m run nonstop during wods to this. NGL was super hesitant when Marcus made us sign up for it but I stuck through the programming and made it! Thanks for designing and educating us about running. ( and for the constant encouragement when I send you my splits EVERY.Single.time I ran) 😂

“You’re so slow u might as well just walk, pay money to go for the run for what” is what I have gotten when someone asked for my pace. I know to a lot of people my pace and distance might not be much but I’m all about improvement not perfection. It only means I have room for improvement and that’s okay 😜 My goal when from making it for the 2hour mark to 1 hour 40minutes to finding out there were SO MANY HILLS involved to 1 hour 45 minutes to ending with a time and PB of 1 hour 34 minutes which I am very pleased with ☺️🤭

Thank you to all my friends, colleagues, fam and patients who have encouraged me through my whole journey up to race day. 🥹 yall have kept me sane and kept me going 💕

Question now is would I still continue running? Yes! I love seeing improvement and trying to achieve different goals. So here’s to running 2km nonstop hehe 😂🤪

Reaching your goals can look different for everyone. For some is snatching that 50kg bar, for another running that ultra marathon, for another it can be just walking without an aid and for another to lift their hands over head. For each of it, remember, your physiotherapist is there to help you reach your goal.

Alot of times we will try to modify your preferred workout routine so that you don’t further injure yourself. However, I think alot of times, there’s also a big TABOO in healthcare professionals telling people to “rest” when in reality there is a time and space for that.

So, IF your physiotherapist is not helping you to reach your goal, not giving you alternative solutions or activities you can do, time to seek for a second opinion 🥹🙃.

In typical REGEN Physio fashion, as I celebrate 6 years here, I did some reflection on my journey. 6 years in one company, 7 years under the same leadership. I’ve seen myself grow from being a not so confident physiotherapist to someone who is capable but not contented and fighting for that 1% better everyday. I’ve seen people come and go in the centre as colleagues, Ive seen many many patients. Some nice, some not so nice, some I gladly call friends and some I have had the privilege to not see any more (because they are better). My role as a physio in a small private centre has also changed over the years; from a fresh grad physio to a senior physio to asst Manager and to now, a clinical manager. The job scope is really not something I saw myself doing when I first started but growth is important. 🎀💕

I am honestly so blessed to be able to do what I love and so so happy I get to do this. To the people who have been around and who have been referring patient, thank you. Thank you for your trust in me and allowing me to help you get better, stronger, more mobile. Here’s to helping more people, being blessed and being a blessing!

This should actually be a norm. However, like any other job, people can get too complacent and well, lazy.

Tips to find a good physiotherapist is to get someone who does assessment before doing any form of treatment or referral. Even if you have x-ray or and MRI scan, your physiotherapist should definitely know what your initial movement range or quality is like. Usually this process takes about 20-40 minutes. For complicated cases, sometimes even more.

Have you ever gotten treatment without much assessment?

Officially Discharged. The words she wanted to hear since her first few sessions with me. It has taken sometime to address long-term, on-going pains but here we are. Thank you for your trust in my treatment plan, your patience and your hard work to do your homework. SO proud of how far you’ve come in your fitness journey and how willing you are to try “scary” or uncomfortable new things!

Thank you too to your coaches .khooo and for looking out for you at your workout sessions and programming them well according to my suggestions :D

Here’s to living pain-free and moving well!

It all starts with a “WHY”. But sometimes in the midst of it, our “why” can change. I started off my fitness journey because I was called fat, lazy and other terms because of my size. (People still assume I’m lazy and don’t do much till this day) however, after awhile, my why changed. I don’t work out because of what others say about me anymore but I do it for fitness, my health, so that I can help my patients better, so that I can dance for longer and a whole lot of other whys that’s beyond the thoughts of others.

This is a question I love asking my clients and listen to their stories on WHY they workout so hard and WHY they love it (:

Growth.
Is usually uncomfortable but funny enough, we find ourselves being more comfortable with who we are as a person, what we stand for and what we want to achieve in life. We seek better connections with people, we learn to love the unlovable and we learn to give ourselves grace in our short falls.

One thing I wish to always strive to do is to grow. 1% better everyday. And I hope you see the beauty in yourself when you allow yourself to grow and blossom wherever you may be 🌸
