Our associates, Jason Lim and Tharani Kunasekaran, who are also members of the Bar Council National Young Lawyers and Pupils Committee (NYLPC), recently participated in the Malaysia–Hong Kong Young Lawyers’ Symposium 2025, co-organised by the NYLPC and the Law Society of Hong Kong.

The Symposium brought together young lawyers from Malaysia and Hong Kong to discuss comparative legal systems and ethics, challenges in sports law and dispute resolution, future trends and change management in the profession, as well as the importance of well-being, diversity, equity and inclusion.

Their participation reflects both their personal commitment to the profession and MWKA’s support for building cross-border relationships. We believe such experiences not only foster professional growth but also strengthen the way we serve our clients in an increasingly interconnected legal landscape.

Our Senior Associate and Head of the Medical & Personal Injury Department, Jeremy Balang, spoke on “Medical Negligence and Medico-Legal Litigation in Malaysia” at the Healthcare Conference 2025 that took place on the 13th and 14th of August 2025, organised by Comfori.

He shared insights on the legal definition and elements of medical negligence, common causes of malpractice claims, patient rights, and the litigation process.

Our team had the opportunity to attend the "Equal Before the Law: Reviving Faith in International Justice" forum, which was hosted by Yayasan Tan Sri Profesor Ahmad Ibrahim at Horizon Banquet Hall, Brickfields Asia College, last Saturday.

It was an enriching session in which we improved our understanding of international law, with a particular emphasis on the ICC and the Rome Statute. We are grateful for the opportunity for development and to participate in such meaningful event.

Our Senior Associate, Daphne Rethual, presented on strata issues in mixed-use developments at the Malaysia Land Conference 2025 that took place on the 23rd and 24th of July 2025.

Drawing from her experience in disputes in various strata developments representing both developers and proprietors, Daphne highlighted prevalent challenges and present uncertainties under the Strata Management Act 2013.
