More than just a diagnosis : It is a Journey we take together 💙

When a patient is diagnosed with ALS: 肌萎缩性侧索硬化症 (Motor Neurone Disease:运动神经元病), the path ahead can feel overwhelming. Unlike conditions that are fixed with a single surgery or a quick course of medication, ALS requires something much deeper: specialized care, consistent respiratory support, and a steady, compassionate hand to guide you every step of the way.

We recently had the pleasure of a follow-up visit with a long-time patient we’ve been supporting since her diagnosis at the MND clinic at UMMC. Seeing her doing so well and staying so strong reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

To our patients: Thank you for trusting us to walk this path with you. We don’t just treat the condition; we are here for the journey.

What is Cutaneous CO2 monitoring
When and Why is required .

What :
Cutaneous CO 2 monitoring is a clever way to track the carbon dioxide levels in your blood without the need for frequent, painful needle pokes.

How:
It works by using a small, heated sensor placed on the skin’s surface, which draws gases through the skin to be measured instantly. Unlike a traditional blood test that only gives a "snapshot" of a single moment, this device provides continuous, real-time data, recording the CO 2 levels throughout the night.

When & Why:
For patients with chronic lung conditions, it helps doctors ensure that the lungs are effectively clearing out CO2 to prevent them from building up to dangerous levels.

It can be used to guide and adjust treatments (respirators and ventilators) to keep your breathing stable and safe.

Did you know?
Not all lung biopsies carry the same risk. 📊

When faced with a lung lesion, many assume a needle biopsy from the outside (CT-guided) is the simplest way. However, the "internal" route—Bronchoscopy—could often be the safer choice.

The case shared here shows lung puncture (pneumothorax) after a CT biopsy which was opted by the patient.

The Reality Check:

CT-Guided: Higher risk of lung puncture (pneumothorax). In some cases, this leads to air trapping under the skin and extended hospital stays.

Bronchoscopy: Uses natural airways to reach the target.

The Stat: Research shows the risk of lung puncture can be 3x higher with the CT-guided needle approach

If your facility has the expertise and technology, a bronchoscopy approach should be your first consideration for a safer diagnostic approach.

Knowledge is your best medicine. Ask your pulmonologist which method is right for you.

Headline: From Constant Wheezing to Clear Breathing

"As a 35-year-old nurse, I’m used to taking care of others, but since January 2026, my own severe asthma took over my life. Despite being on maximal triple inhaler therapy, oral corticosteroids, and multiple other medications, the persistent wheezing just wouldn't stop.

My blood test showed slightly elevated eosinophils but normal IgE levels, making my case a bit complex. That’s when we decided to try Tezspire. The results were almost immediate. After just one dose, my symptoms are finally controlled, and I can breathe freely again. It’s been a total game-changer for my recovery!"
