Grateful to Datuk Ken Phua for the kind invitation and honor of sharing on colorectal cancer screening with the inspiring group of CEOs at the Malaysian Retail Chain Association meeting.

It was heartening to see leaders from the retail industry take an interest in health awareness — because when influential voices champion early detection, lives can truly be saved.

My first time at the main campus of IMU university. I do bedside teachings with undergraduate students once a week in their medical campus in Seremban. It’s a good opportunity to contribute back to the future of medicine. I’m happy to also meet my ex boss and dean. This time he had to interview me as part of MQA re-accreditation.

Last Sunday, I witnessed and signed an MOU between the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons and INCISION Malaysia (a national medical student body). Together we hope to increase awareness and advocate for screening of colorectal cancer in Malaysia. I am amazed with their idealism, enthusiasm and creativity. I wished I had all these traits when I was a student too!

Honoured to serve as Organising Chairman of the College of Surgeons Conference 2025.

Grateful for the opportunity to lead this year’s conference, which brought together a dynamic community of surgeons, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the region. The opening ceremony was a proud moment — a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and the future of surgery.

A big thank you to the College of Surgeons and all our partners, speakers, and delegates who made this event a success. Looking forward to the days ahead filled with learning, networking, and inspiration.

Dr Luqman Mazlan, Pakar Bedah Am & Kolorektal, berkongsi tentang kepentingan mengenal pasti simptom awal kanser usus seperti pendarahan semasa membuang air besar, kehadiran darah dalam najis, perut kembung, muntah, serta kesukaran membuang angin atau najis.

Beliau turut menerangkan pilihan rawatan moden yang tersedia kini, termasuk pembedahan minimal invasif seperti laparoskopi dan pembedahan dengan bantuan robot. Kaedah ini memberikan pelbagai kelebihan berbanding pembedahan tradisional — antaranya luka pembedahan yang lebih kecil, risiko komplikasi yang lebih rendah, dan tempoh pemulihan yang lebih singkat.

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of speaking at “Pain in the Ass” — an event dedicated to shedding light on perianal conditions and functional bowel disorders. 🍑💬

These often-overlooked issues affect millions, yet stigma and silence keep too many people from seeking help. Today, we broke that silence with honest conversation, evidence-based insights, and a bit of humor to lighten the load.

Honored to be part of the first Video Clinic for Robotic Colorectal Surgery in Malaysia, featuring none other than the world-renowned Korean surgeon Professor Kim Seong Hahn who has made Malaysia his temporary home. I shared my unedited surgical videos of my initial experience in low anterior resections to a small focus group of colleagues from different hospitals in the Klang Valley.

This interactive session was all about refining our techniques, and learning invaluable tips and tricks . A truly inspiring opportunity to sharpen skills and elevate patient care.
