🗓️ A yearly check-in is recommended as we acknowledge the gradual changes from last year to this one: in our physical and mental health status, medication alterations, social supports, and others, which may change how one is able to observe Ramadhan optimally.

💜 World Epilepsy 🧠 Day 💜

✨ Did you know…? Around 50 million people worldwide live with epilepsy, making it one of the most common neurological conditions in the world.

But what do you do when you see someone having an active seizure?

Seizures can happen anytime, anywhere - at home, in public, or even at work. It can happen to someone with no previous history of seizures to, for various reasons.

Knowing what to do can make a big difference 💜

If you ever see someone having a seizure:

✔ Stay calm
✔ Keep them safe
✔ Do NOT put anything in their mouth
✔ Turn them on their side
✔ Call 999 if it lasts more than 5 minutes
✔️ Stay with them until they are awake and aware

Have you noticed if your beloved elder relatives have started to mix up dates or take longer to remember the day?

Time orientation refers to one’s ability to recognise time (time in a day, day in a week, and month, and so forth) and it’s relationship to the past, present and future.

Being rooted in time concept helps elderly be able to:

🏠 Manage their life better
📋Plan their day and activities
💭 Remember to look after themselves (such as taking medication 💊 , eating 🥘 and showering🚿)
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Participate socially with others; And many more.

Difficulty with time orientation is may be an early sign of cognitive decline or dementia for elderly before other challenges in managing independently become apparent. Among things that can help with orientation for them are:

📆 Help them plan a schedule and support them in continuing a good daily routine to anchor them.
⏰ Use an easy to see clock, especially with built in calendars to indicate day and date.
☀️ Utilise natural lighting during the day by opening curtains and going outdoors to create awareness of time passing in the day.
🗣️ Maintain regular communication either in person or remotely through devices to give continuous familiarity with family and friends.
🔁 Gently correct/redirect without creating pressure or adding frustration for the individual
👩🏻‍⚕️ Seek professional help if the change is drastic and ther are other concerning changes.

📝 We can’t think of a more productive way to start 2026 than with Teman’s all-new, hands-on caregiver training program, aptly themed “Companion and Care” - focusing on practical caregiving skills, with companionship at the heart of it all.

🤝 Through the trust and support of and we were able to welcome Temanions - old and new - to build on a wide range of skills and grow the confidence needed to be excellent caregivers to those they serve.

✅ Over two days, participants took part in robust interactive discussions, demonstrations, and simulated practice of essential caregiving skills.
