The Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) proudly hosted the 58th Malaysia-Singapore Congress of Medicine (MSCM) together with the 5th AMM-AMS-HKAM Tripartite Congress of Medicine, held in conjunction with the 7th Emergency Medicine Annual Symposium (EMAS 2025).
The Tripartite Congress again bringing together AMM, the Academy of Medicine Singapore (AMS), and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) in further underscoring the importance of regional partnerships. This collaboration provided a strong foundation for collective progress in healthcare, particularly as the region continues to face new medical challenges and opportunities for innovation.
The congress was graced by His Royal Highness Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Ibni Almarhum, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, Al-Maghfur-lah. The opening ceremony reflected the enduring spirit of unity, professional integrity, and shared commitment among academies of medicine across borders.
Another significant highlight was the 25th Tun Dr Ismail Oration, a cherished tradition of the congress, honours one of our nation’s most respected statesmen for his unwavering devotion to the health, wellbeing, and unity of Malaysia. This year’s oration, entitled “Healing a Nation with Prescriptions,” was delivered by YABhg Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister. A visionary leader which his decades of public service have profoundly, shaped the nation’s development.
The congress also celebrated the conferment of Fellowships and the induction of more than 400 new Members into the AMM, which is not merely a formal rite of passage but reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to cultivating leaders who uphold integrity, compassion, and service above self.
This year, alongside the EMAS Conference led by the College of Emergency Physicians AMM, it was guided by the theme “Embracing Evidence, Envisioning Eminence,” highlighting the dual responsibility of the medical profession and grounding practice in science while aspiring toward the highest standards of excellence in patient care.
In conclusion, EMAS 2025 offered valuable insights for the emergency medicine community, and the Malaysia-Singapore partnership alongside the Tripartite collaboration in continuing to serve as strong pillars of academic exchange and professional solidarity for the medical fraternity.
