🌟 我们很高兴地宣布,萌籽治疗中心的治疗师和早期干预教师现已开始启动PEERS®️ 学龄前孩童(PEERS For Preschoolers)的群组社交技能课程。

PEERS®️ For Preschoolers 是一个基于循证研究的社交技能训练课程,专为学龄前儿童设计, 属于全球广受认可的 PEERS®️ 系列之一。

PEERS®️ 课程由美国加州大学洛杉矶分校(UCLA)开发,已在世界各地帮助无数儿童与青少年建立有意义的社交关系。

PEERS®️ For Preschoolers 的核心在于以有趣、富有吸引力且符合发展阶段的方式教导基础社交技能。PEERS®️的研究团队意识到:结交朋友和成功地与他人互动,并非对每个孩子来说都是自然而然的过程。

有些孩子可能在以下方面面临困难:
✅ 主动开始对话
✅ 融入集体游戏
……以及更多。

但只要给予适当支持,这些关键技能是可以被教导、练习并不断强化的。

🌟 We’re excited to share that our therapists and teachers are now applying knowledge from the PEERS®️ for Preschoolers Program to better support the children in our care who need it most.

PEERS®️ is an evidence-based social skills training program specially designed for preschoolers. Developed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), it is part of the internationally recognised PEERS®️ series, which has empowered children and adolescents worldwide to build meaningful social connections.

The PEERS®️ for Preschoolers program focuses on teaching foundational social skills in a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate way. It recognises that forming friendships and interacting successfully with others doesn’t always come naturally to every child.

Some children may find it difficult to:
✅ Start conversations
✅ Join in play..and more.

With the right support, these essential skills can be taught, practised, and strengthened.

Our program is specially designed for preschool-aged children who may benefit from extra guidance in these areas. Each session is interactive and structured, using modelling, role-play, and hands-on activities to help children learn and practise new social skills.

💡 A key feature of PEERS®️ for Preschoolers is active parent or caregiver involvement. After each session, we provide practical strategies and coaching to help families support their child’s learning at home and in daily life. This home-school partnership is crucial in helping children generalise their skills beyond the therapy room, making the learning even more meaningful and lasting.

🌱 Through this program, we aim to empower children to build confidence in their social world, enjoy positive peer interactions, and lay a strong foundation for future friendships.

今年四月旬,萌籽治疗中心秉持着“提升专业、持续学习”的理念,资助了中心三位治疗师与早期干预老师——李姵儀老师、张玉珊老师及黄晓君老师——参与由金宝拉曼大学(UTAR)主办的「PEERS学龄前儿童社交技能培训工作坊」。

PEERS学龄前儿童社交技能课程(PEERS for Preschoolers)是由美国加州大学研发的一套社交技能介入方案,专为自闭症谱系或其他社交障碍问题的学龄前儿童(4至6岁)设计。该课程拥有坚实的研究基础与实证支持,被公认为是目前最有效且最具帮助性的介入方式。课程内容结构化、富有趣味,并符合儿童的发展里程碑,旨在帮助孩子们循序渐进地掌握关键社交技巧。

“学而不思则罔,思而不学则殆;学而不用则亡。”实证本位实务(Evidence-Based Practice, EBP)强调在临床决策中,整合研究证据、临床经验与个案需求。千里之行始于足下,所思所学唯有结合行动、亲力实践,配合教学数据的记录与成效分析,并在过程中不断反思与调整,方能累积真实成果。

在李老师的积极带领与坚持、张老师的紧密合作,以及团队成员包括杜老师的协助下,治疗团队在充分消化课程纲要并完成教学策划后,正式启动了对中心一组长期接受语言与职能治疗的儿童的PEERS群组社交技能训练课程。同时,李老师与张老师也尝试将课程技巧融入一对一早期干预、小组早期干预及个别职能治疗课程中,依照学生不同的程度与需求,灵活调整治疗方案。

在带领PEERS群组社交技能小组课程时,李老师亦会根据中心目前的治疗师资源,在原有的三种授课形式中灵活取舍,寻求最合适的执行方式。

萌籽治疗中心将持续秉持这一理念,在本地社区中提供有素质的治疗与早期疗愈课程,让用心的治疗师与干预老师们,以及有需要的家长与孩子们,免于长途奔波之苦,共同创造一个互惠互助、携手成长的空间。

This April, in line with our commitment to professional excellence and continuous learning, Bloomkids Therapy Centre supported three of our team members—Ms. Lee Hui Yu, Ms. Chong Yoke Sun, and Ms. Wong Xiao Jun—to attend the PEERS for Preschoolers Social Skills Training Workshop hosted by Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Kampar.

PEERS for Preschoolers is an evidence-based program developed by the University of California, specifically designed for children aged 4 to 6 who are either on the autism spectrum or experiencing social communication challenges. Backed by extensive research, it is recognized as one of the most effective approaches in helping young children develop essential social skills. The program is structured, engaging, and aligned with key developmental milestones, providing a step-by-step method to support social learning through fun and meaningful interactions.

At Bloomkids Therapy Centre, we believe that the true value of learning lies in applying what we learn to real-life situations. Guided by this belief—and grounded in the principles of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)—our therapists strive to integrate research, clinical experience, and each child's unique needs into every aspect of their work.

Following the training, Ms. Lee led the team in adapting the program’s content to meet the needs of our local children. Working closely with Ms. Chong and supported by fellow colleague Ms. Tor, the team has launched a PEERS-based group social skills program for a group of children already receiving speech and occupational therapy at the centre.

Additionally, elements of the PEERS program are being gradually introduced into one-on-one occupational therapy and small group early intervention sessions. These methods are tailored to each child’s individual development level, ensuring that every child receives support that is both targeted and flexible. Ms. Lee also carefully adjusts the program format based on the centre’s current staffing resources, ensuring a balanced and practical approach.

Bloomkids Therapy Centre is grateful to bring internationally recognized best practices into our local community. By continuously equipping our team and enhancing our services, we aim to provide quality therapy and early intervention programs right where families need them most—without the stress of long travel. We are committed to building a nurturing and collaborative environment where therapists, parents, and children grow together.

𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬

After months of fun and purposeful learning during our Group Occupational Therapy (OT) sessions, our 6-year-old group finally took their skills out of the therapy room and into the real world! 🛒

Grocery shopping is more than just picking items off the shelf — it’s an important Instrumental Activity of Daily Living (IADL) that helps build independence. This outing gave our young learners the chance to apply essential hidden skills such as:

✅ Planning & prioritising (deciding what they truly need or want)
✅ Self-control & emotion regulation (managing their excitement and staying focused despite tempting snacks or toys)
✅ Cognitive flexibility & problem-solving (adjusting when things didn’t go as planned)
✅ Numeracy & money concepts
✅ Social skills (queuing, greeting the cashier, waiting their turn)

In our sessions, we explored common challenges they might face during shopping — what to do if they feel overwhelmed, how to regulate emotions, and how to communicate politely in public. We role-played scenarios, practiced turn-taking, and made shopping lists together to prepare for the real deal!

During the day, the children were so excited to step out into the community! Some initially expressed the desire to buy toys or snacks or just go window shopping, but ultimately each proudly chose their own ice cream flavour, showing wonderful decision-making and autonomy.

Learning beyond four walls — this is where true growth happens. We’re so proud of our young shoppers for their smiles, curiosity, and effort in applying what they’ve learned. A big bravo to each of them!

超市购物大冒险:把学习变成生活本领!

经过几个月在我们的团体职能治疗(OT)课中开心又有目标的学习,我们6岁的小朋友们终于把课堂上的本领带到现实生活中啦!🛒

其实,逛超市不只是拿东西那么简单——它是一项重要的日常生活技能,有助于培养孩子的独立性。这次的出游,让孩子们有机会实际运用这些平时在课堂上练的“隐藏技能”:

✅ 学会计划和排轻重缓急(知道自己真正需要或想要的是什么)
✅ 控制自己 & 管理情绪(在看到喜欢的零食或玩具时,还是能保持专注)
✅ 灵活应变 & 解决问题(当事情不如预期时,能想办法调整)
✅ 基本的数感和金钱概念
✅ 社交技巧(排队、跟收银员打招呼、等轮到自己)

在OT课上,我们其实已经练习过不少“万一”的情境——如果感到不舒服怎么办、怎么调节情绪、在外怎么有礼貌地说话等等。我们还一起玩角色扮演、轮流练习、写购物清单,为正式出发做好准备!

活动当天,孩子们一脸兴奋走进社区!虽然一开始有些孩子说想买玩具或零食,或者只是想逛逛,但最后大家都成功做出选择,每个人都挑了自己想要的冰淇淋口味,表现出超棒的决定能力和独立性。

学习不只发生在教室里——走出四面墙,才是真正成长的开始。我们真的好为这些小小购物达人感到骄傲!他们的笑容、好奇心和努力,真的太棒了!👏
