年纪越大,饮食应减量?小心沦为隐性饥饿!根据近期「台湾饮食认知与行为调查显示」,近6成熟龄族为避免慢性疾病上身,以减少每餐份量为养生之道。调查中也指出,有五成以上的熟龄民众认为“多吃菜少吃肉”就是养生,却导致微量营养素不足,处于隐性飢饿风险中。

台湾邮政医院营养师黄淑惠指出,人体肠胃吸收率与新陈代谢,会因自然老化而逐年下降,食物无法完整转换成身体能吸收的营养素。熟龄族为了减少肠胃负担而刻意吃得少,营养素将转换得更少。她强调,维生素、矿物质缺乏会引起身体不适、食慾下降,形成营养不足的恶性循环。

黄淑惠表示,人体无法自行製造多种营养素,需要特别补充,且维生素与矿物质的协同作用,能帮助身体顺利适应环境的变化。她举例,维生素C和维生素E是天然抗氧化剂,协同作用可以帮助身体抗氧化,再加上维生素B群、硒、铁与锌可以增强身体抵抗力,并保护脑细胞不受自由基的侵害、维护细胞膜完整。

缺乏维生素与矿物质,有可能会造成精神不济、记忆力变差、注意力无法集中、抵抗力下降、较容易发怒或忧鬱等情况,熟龄者更应当心。黄淑惠建议,平常饮食应多元,且多吃新鲜蔬果和全穀等富含维生素、矿物质的食物,六大类食物完整摄取,才能远离隐性飢饿风险;夏天若受天气炎热影响,想增进食慾,可以凉拌方式较易入口。

「轻运动」以轻松与愉悦为主,不是在挑战体力和耐力,但炎炎夏日最怕中暑症状或身体不适,在运动时要注意避开烈日,同时记得防晒和补充水分。

所谓的「轻运动」简单来说就是体能消耗少、技术性低、时间要求松的运动如游泳、慢跑、骑脚踏车、瑜珈等,让身体稍微出汗,以增进新陈代谢,而且有助于增加氧气供应,提高清除自由基的能力,也就是以和缓、放松的方式达到养身的目的。

举例来说,游泳清凉又消暑,透过水流的天然按摩,让身材匀称,很适合减肥和塑身;其次,慢跑能增强呼吸功能,提高肺活量,尤其慢跑时所供给的氧气比静坐多8至12倍,可说是最有效率的有氧运动,但夏天若要跑步,最好选择凉爽的时段如清晨五、六点或是下午五、六点,才不会被太阳晒到头晕;如果是在健身房内玩跑步机,因为有空调、出汗少,建议运动量就可增多一些。

If you require a dig in the ribs to get off the sofa, the latest research may give you the encouragement you need. For scientists have found that failing to exercise may shrink your brain.

A major study concluded that people with poor levels of physical fitness in their 30s and 40s were likely to have smaller brains two decades later.

All brains shrink with age, a natural part of the ageing process. On average, the authors found that the participants’ total brain volume shrank by roughly 0.2% a year. But those who were less fit when they were in their 30s and 40s saw their brains shrink faster. This is thought to be because physical fitness reduces blood pressure, decreasing the strain on the brain.
