Like it or not, RSV infection is on the rise, especially when this region is receiving high rainfalls. RSV is a common respiratory virus that causes flu like symptoms, however, it could be deadly if your newborn or infants gets it.

My advise to all parents with young infants, kindly be vigilant when handling your babies. If you are having flu symptoms, please practice air born precaution (eg: wear mask and frequent handwashing). If possible, limit your contact with your babies to prevent any risk of transmission.

When young infants contract the virus, they are worsen to cause lung inflammation. Video below are signs when the baby has lung infection. Prompt action needs to be taken for condition not to worsen.

I was away last weekend to attend the 45th Malaysian Paediatrics Association Annual Congress, and this year together with Malaysian Association of Paediatrics Surgery, had the combined congress about Paediatrics Surgery.

Had good time getting updated with our surgical colleagues of what they do best as well as seeing old friends and making new connections. Great fruitful weekend spent !
