One such complication is rhabdomyolysis, a condition where muscle tissue breaks down and releases toxins into the bloodstream. These toxins can clog the kidneysโ filtering system (renal tubules), leading to acute kidney injury.
In fact, during my time working at Port Dickson Hospital, we often received military personnel from nearby camps who were admitted due to heat stroke during training. Their symptoms were nearly identical: high fever, confusion, back pain, and reduced urine output.
All these signs are typical of heat stroke, not so-called "detox reactions."
